  1. @001 Well done and thanks… certainly no need to verify K-43. pictures of mid, tweet and XO. That is AL right? Not much experience beyond AA for me.
  2. Anyone know how to decode the serial numbers on old LaScala split industrials? Specifically, 8732402/3. I read somewhere that maybe only Klipsch HQ would know. Also, would love to know what components are likely inside (based on time period sourcing) without opening them up. They are tight except for one rubber foot that came off. thanks for any help.
  3. Man, sorry I missed this one. Sure do like your builds @Dneu2011…. Just missed it.
  4. @Dneu2011 some great looking builds. I just recently put my ACAmini on my K402’s with Celestion Axi2050’s and it sounds quite good. To me it sounds better with jumper removed (the way NP likes it). Great little amp. Especially for the top end. I actually sent Nelson an email and asked what he thought might work well on the Celestion’s and he said give the ACAmini build a try. I happen to buy this already built based on good timing….and lack of skill. You have any additional recommendations? My K402/Celestions cover from 225 up in a 2-way configuration. Thanks and congratulations on all your amps moving on…. Mike
  5. Thanks @jcmusic but it appears the XD8080 is different. No obvious interface to dim LCD screen. All channel I/O’s indicator lights go out as typical when you enter the menus through the unit panel but no LCD display brightness I can see. Thanks just the same.
  6. Anyone know how to turn off/dim the front panel lights on an XD8080? I don’t see it anywhere in the PC interface. Maybe somewhere on unit interface? Maybe not possible. I’m sure they have a 10-20,000. hour life expectancy but would rather have them off. And with mine it is left on 24/7 in my system. Thanks
  7. Happy Birthday, Mr. Klipsch! Thank you for opening my ears and my mind to your wonderful world of music.
  8. Thanks @babadonoGreat idea to ring out wires. Especially in this supply chain climate…. would love to hear that range expander. All roads lead to the old DBX stuff. Classic. Great work.
  9. Thanks @mikebse2a3 I will try the chassis wire. Great idea. XILICA, is not in the same outlet or even on the same circuit for that matter. I will rectify this. Amp is a Conrad Johnson MF2500. All caps are good and amp is in good shape. 26dB gain Preamp is also a Motif (also CJ) MC 10. Also, in good shape. Volume control on preamp is 9 o’clock. 10 max. Note: I lifted the amp ground and silenced the low ground noise. But it still has a very faint high frequency ground noise ring. Coming through the 15 I guess. Never heard this before. Thanks
  10. Thanks everyone. Monoprice cables I am using https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=4776 Will not lift ground on XILICA. I did try tying the negative and shield together at XILICA as recommended by XILICA and as shown below. It did not solve the issue. Update: I am now using balanced connections to high end amp. Quiet, no noise obviously. The ground noise still persists in the low end which is still single-ended configuration. So same problem. Got it on the Jensen. Not cheap and currently back ordered at PE. Mike Please try the following wiring instructions and let me know if this remedies the noise. -Mark Xilica® Global Customer Relations
  11. Thanks, @LTusler . Thanks for the suggestion. The hassle with that is it would mean opening up RCA connector at the amp side and breaking the shield wire away from connector. Not a huge deal but PIA. That’s why I was thinking to either disconnect shield at XILICA or tie it to “-“ on XILICA so any ground issues would follow to amp side and go to ground. I am no grounding expert but does that make sense. Or should it all end up grounding at the XILICA?…I have not tried lifting the ground on my XILICA and really don’t want to do this with all the sensitive electronic items/chips/etc. in XILICA. …hmmmm
  12. Hey All…Anyone ever have a noise/ground issue with your, XILICA? My situation outlined below: SET UP XILICA XD8080 set up in 2-way configuration with all single-ended/RCA connections at amplifiers. All amps have 3-wire AC plugs. XILICA, outputs are the phoenix connector (see picture) wired with the shield wire tied to the “G” terminal; center RCA pin to +; outer RCA ring to -. Assume RCA plug wiring at amplifier connection is; RCA center pin “red”; RCA outer ring tied to “shield” and “white“ wire as typical with an RCA interconnect. ISSUE Ground loop issue creating noise in my LaScala 15 and my axi2050 drivers on K402’s. Noise on low and high channels Noise on high channel/axi’s an intolerable high frequency ring around 1.5K. Noise on LaScala 15 more typical of a lower frequency ground noise. STEPS TAKEN SO FAR Separated components AC on separate circuits to try and identify house loop issue. Shut off potential house branch circuits/breakers to isolate potential issue of lights, inverters, etc. ”Lifted” ground on low end amp and it eliminated most of the ground noise. Low end/LaScala 15 noise tolerable but not super clean. “Lifted” ground on high channel amp and noise still persists through Axi drivers. NOTE: the ground noise in the drivers is across the frequency range but is intolerable at around 1.5K. A ring that is not acceptable. Different amps get the same issue. i.e. it’s not the amplifiers. MY INTIAL THOUGHTS Ground noise is back-feeding from interconnect shield wire? The RCA connection end on the amplifier end has the shield wire connected to the outer ring on the RCA Jack. The shield wire on interconnect is connected to the G terminal at, XILICA creating the back-feed path. Should the shield wire be left Open at the XILICA? Or should it be tied to the “-“ terminal on the XILICA with the RCA outer ring? Any suggestions appreciated. I can easily drop the shield at XILICA or tie shield to “-“ at XILICA and test this but I do not want to damage my XILICA or my drivers and hoping for some feedback from group. Thanks as always, Mike
  13. Proud father of a new pair of Axi2050’s that will get married to my K402’s this weekend. Needless to say very excited. Looking for an .xdat file or DSP settings I can input to my XILICA manually. Thanks to @Chris A I. Am now a “somewhat” competent XILICA user now understanding variables. I know it’s a small group but any JubScala owners out there using the, Axi2050? I will ultimately ring out my room with REW (hopefully with @Chris A) but wanted to at least get some music flowing with my new drivers this weekend. The great information I am using for my JubScalas with K69/691 is great but would think most everything changes with the, Axi2050. Including crossover points. Thanks again to the Forum for such quality coaching, insight and expertise to quickly get me going. @Islander fellow JubScaler. you get into the Axi2050’s yet? Or know anyone. Thanks. Mike
  14. I am getting ready to try my B&C DE750TN-8 drivers on my K402 horns. I currently have the K1132’s in place and they sound pretty good but curious. From what I understand the B&C ( maybe a 75 and not 750) was what Klipsch used as basis of K691 and I’m sure worked some magic to make it sing. Anyone know if some sort of a phase plug was/is used to make these sound decent? Insight appreciated. Thanks, Mike UPDATE 1/20/2023- No longer a Top Priority since I picked up my Axi2050’s but would be helpful if anyone has input. My set-up could be used for small venue live sound reinforcement at some point and no way the Axi’s are being used for this.. thanks
  15. Thanks @wuzzzer the email I received actually referred to the “Mark as Solution” button as shown below. Thanks. I try to do as I am told. (at least sometimes…:)). Appreciate it! 16. So, I know I am new and certainly not the most astute but can someone please tell me where the “Mark as Solution” button is under a post? The forum group/webmaster has asked me to mark a response if it was a solution. Makes good sense and I already have many cases where everyone’s help certainly provided a solution and want to mark it as such but can’t find the darn button. Anyone? I tried search help. No luck. Thanks in advance for any guidance….it’s probably right I front of me…:). Mike
  17. @The Dude is correct on first part. The guy scored a bunch of Klipsch stuff and has been stepping through selling it. He did not know the what/why on this single Jub from what I recall of conversation. Maybe a center? I think he also said he had and sold another pair of jubilee bass bins that were unfinished (as far as finish). Maybe clones or earlier UJ’s.
  18. Hooked up my pair of Sunfire 300’s today to run on the JubScala’s and found one of the Joules meters not working or registering 0. The amp seems to be working ok with no obvious issue. Anyone ever encounter this? Maybe just a bad meter? I did pick up on the forum Pro Audio service (thanks @LTusler) and Nelion in the event I need service. I am in Maryland so still looking for something closer. FYI, the Sunfire 300’s sound quite good on my JubScala’s. Running as mono-blocks with Horns on “Voltage” speaker tap and bass cabs on “Current” speaker tap. Obviously 2-way using xilica XD8080. Thanks, Mike
  19. What a great group. @tigerwoodKhorns and @justonemore I did cancel the deal. Actually, had a financial thing on my that killed my deal. Worked out for the best as I arrived at a similar conclusion (for now anyway) that @Islander stepped through so eloquently. The seller of UJ is a good guy and it was a simple cancel. I would buy from him again for sure. Who knows what could happen with this. i will say that my loss of this U-Jub bass bin is supported by the fact that my JubScala system really sounds good. Once I get it fully sorted out I will get some details on the forum for others. Do I like the thought/idea of a (2)-12” Bass cabinet? Yes, but there is certainly nothing wrong with a LaScala 15” bass bin as most of us know. With the exception of some of the resonance issues. i.e. @Islander LaScala 2 solution I suspect. For now I just notch it at 148hz on my oldies. Also, while the new Jub Heritage with its ports can get low the UJ bass bin probably sounds best with sub(s). And that is certainly not criticism. Maybe UJ with good sub(s) sounds even better than ports. My LaScala 15” crossed at 50hz to my Yorkville UCS1P horn sub sounds good. The Yorkville does not go low enough (it’s for PA use) so that good be a logical change/pursuit to a good pair of horn loaded stereo subs. Always learning. Great forum! Mike
  20. Any suggestions on what the material/filament is for a PhasePlug on a compression driver? Least resonant, strength/rigidity. Plastic, metal, other? Thanks
  21. Any experience on the minimum power needed to drive the axi2050’s for optimal performance? I would say assume crossover point at 350hz (lowest). In my current power scheme I use a Decware UFO 2.1 on K1132’s/K402’s. The Decware is a 3W, SET. It sounds great. I am not a loud listener and never take things to a point of distortion (at least that I can hear). Axi2050’s 108dB efficient, etc., and can handle significant power. Do they need power to excel? Experiences appreciated. Especially any Decware users. Thanks, Mike
  22. Anyone know the performance difference (if any) between the K-45-EP and the K-45-ST? i can get a new “ST” from Klipsch and told it is just another vendor. We all know what can happen when there is a vendor/supplier change. In my application with (4) 15’s in the 942 cabinet it may not be a deal breaker if all the specs line up. It appears in the 942, each pair of 8ohm 15’s is wired in parallel to creat a 4 ohm load. Thoughts on the ST or other options appreciated. Mike
  23. Thanks @Coytee for the “therapy”. And your voice of reason. I will see how long it sticks. It’s a great sounding system. The Yorkville sub does not go super low but it is very nice. Super fast and a good match with the LaScala’s. Albeit only 1 sub. I await my Celestion axi2050’s that are said to move “in the next few days” but we shall see. It seems those who have TAD’s keep them. Must sound great. I am enjoying the K1132 drivers with a really good sound stage…hope I don’t lose that with 2050’s. I really do have to try my 942 cabinets and told I will not be disappointed. But I love that LaScala bass…:). There is no doubt I have a high class problem…. At least from my current view and in some circles of “class” rating….. but not even close to many on this site. Most importantly, i just think the Jubilees look cool…:).
