  1. Well, I guess with the limited crowd these days, it's not going to be easy to find one.
  2. That's probably unrealistic. A strict keto diet, along with a 1200 or so calorie limit per day will get you 5 pounds in a week. But 10 is doubtful unless you just stop eating for a week. What's the reason for this radical approach?
  3. I'm looking for a super condition BBX w/o Cream option. Prefer the silver face Edition and I'm looking for A++ condition unit with dovetail walnut case. But, possibly other styles depending on condition. Buzz me jet if you have one you are selling. Cheers, The Real Mark Deneen
  4. Looks like a solid unit. Not very many units got the Maxim Mod. So, it's a bit unique especially considering the improved jacks. as of today 8-18-23, there are TWO nice peaches also on Exxx selling for $1799, so this price is right on.
  5. I just added a gorgeous Pioneer SA-9100 integrated to my workshop kit and it is a beautiful piece of audio jewelry and a nice amp to boot! It's flogging my new RPM600s in very stylish fashion and accommodates tape dubbing too. Ahhhh, the good old days.
  6. Create a dead short in the outlet, and see if the breaker opens.
  7. Bravo! "Calories" in food are measure by putting the food in a bomb calorimiter and burning it to measure heat output. But calories put in your digestive system interact with dozens of chemical processes in the liver and pancreas and intestines and many of those functions are "interrupted or spun out of control" by various food content - like SUGAR. 200 calories of sugar creates bodily chaos compared to 200 calories of beef. Etc.
  8. Dang! These things weigh a TON. At $499 it is an amazing lot of speaker. My office/project room/bat cave/getaway needed an uplift from my tired old Andrew Jones bookshelfs from 10 years ago. A woofer started to rub - that was it. I've only had these a few days, but they have already impressed me - just using an old Yamaha receiver. I have some other gear I will try too. Did I mention how heavy these things are? 👍
  9. I really don't bother much with vegetables. Although I sometimes eat Brussels sprouts. As to fruit, I only eat blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries for their anti-oxidant and good fiber properties. No other fruit, or fruit juice. Not sure if I mentioned it, but I only eat Ezekial 4:19 bread - maybe one slice a day. Stay Well People - and remember: Karbs Kill!
  10. Not quite. I bought them at Circuit City (bankrupt now) - remember them? And as far as the full refund and the new shipping cartons, that came directly from Klipsch HQ, courtesy of one Mr. Bob Gasser(sp). He was a real gem, as was the rest of the company. Now, as for Crutchfield. In 2021, I bought a pair of Klipsch towers (model numbers escape me). About $1500 if I recall. I got them quickly and tried my damndest to get them to sound good in my odd-shaped room, but alas, after a month of trying, I called Crutchfield, and they took them back for a full refund. So YES! They are absolutely wonderful on cust service.
  11. That works for a lot of people, for sure. Some, however, go back to much higher calories when the "diet is over" - -after they lose X pounds. The hazard is they may gain it all back. Alternatively, if you make a PERMANENT change to how you eat, and you eat a Ketogenic diet, you really don't have to count calories much. And you will lose weight very fast down to your "natural weight," which will be a BMI of about 20-24. Eating meat and fat allows the organs to immediately signal the brain when you are "Full". The satiety signal works perfectly with protein and fat. It works much less well with carbohydrates which overwhelm the signaling system. And once you stay in the Keto mode, you won't get hungry between meals. You can easily go 24 hours between meals. The DOWN side is that for many people adjusting to Keto is very difficult. For some it is impossible. Anyway, just a thought.
  12. Zenman... No, I wasn't directing at you. Just a general sanity check. I think everyone knows it's all about the speakers!
  13. I bought a new pair of KLF30 in 1999. I really liked them for rock music. They had real balls. I had them about 2 years when the cabinets developed buzzes and rattles. Long story short--there were some production issues with "glue." The Company offered me a full retail refund - $1798.00, which for 2 year old speakers seemed very generous, so I took them up on it. (Good lord, they even shipped me two brand new cartons to send them home in. My dog (at that time - since passed - chased the truck driver all the way down the block before I could coral him (the dog, not the driver). Man, was he pissed. I liked the way they easily fit into the two different rooms I had them in. Easy to place and easy to get good sound out of them. I had a big Phase Linear amp, and those speakers could swallow that amp. Of course, that would have been awfully loud. More loud than I can stand. But at the time I played mostly (non-metal) rock and jazz, and the dang things just sounded great, looked great. If I saw a pair today in a thrift shop for a couple hundo, I'd probably take them home!
  14. Hmmmm? Not convinced here. Test Setup-- Assume Joe has a pair of Jubilee and a $150 class D amp with 75 W. Pete Has a pair of Dynaco A25 and a $10,000 McIntosh Amp. They both connect same model of an integrated CDP and play the same CDs. I expect the Jubilee system will sound way the hell better.
  15. Sounds good. Happy wife, happy life! 👌
  16. Absolutely if that can be done. I'm usually not wanting to have a living room look like a sound studio, and I never had the resources to buy a house big enough to have a room just dedicated to audio system. So, in my case - it's always a compromise. But hey, if I had the scratch for a big house with a large dedicated room, I'd go the whole mile.
  17. DAC - subtle differences Room - What are you going to do, buy a new house? Preamp - Subtle differences Amplifier - Subtle differences Speakers - Monumental differences. This is the foundation of any system. I don't know anyone who started with a DAC and built out from there? Recording quality - I assume you'll listen to the music you LIKE, not what sounds better, right? In the end, everyone is free to do whatever the hell they think makes sense.
  18. BTW, I mentioned this book before. I got my copy a few days ago and it is FANTASTIC. It really fills in ALL the angles and he tackles food and pharma head-on no punches pulled. No affiliation, but I am a fan of Lustig. He's been the anti-sugar guy for 10 years.
  19. So true about animal cruelty. I am sensitive to that (I belong to PETA). But, I am also a believer in Nature, and humans are omnivores. We need complete protein and saturated fat to remain in good health and that certainly implies animal protein and fat. I support (with purchasing) humane, grass fed beef and free-range chicken. I am not naive, I know it's hard to KNOW how they were actually raised, but we do try. I would love to see those huge feeding lots for beef and pork outlawed, but I won't hold my breath.
  20. Just as an FYI--------------If you hate to cook, ketogenic/low carb is the easiest way to eat. I really have a NARROW shopping list. Meat, chicken thighs, eggs, butter, cheese, Ezekial 4:19 bread, and fresh berries. I cook up 6 chicken thighs a week in the toaster oven - takes one hour total. I bag (4) 1/4 pound patties of 85% ground beef into the freezer. I cut a large steak into 4 oz pieces. What's left to cook? Fried eggs, a plain burger (no buns!), a piece of steak. No need for messing with salads, vegetables, potatoes, pasta, noodles. etc. Eat one or two meals a day of this food and you will lose weight fast, feel strong, not hungry, and you will be protecting your liver and feeding your gut biome. All positive, hardly any work.
  21. I think Phama would love nothing better than to normalize being obese. It's a fabulous market for them. Those Ozempic and similar drugs are patented and very expensive - er "profitable." IMO, it's a kind of moral corruption - - legal, but bad for everyone. And, it furthers the interests of the processed food companies who are producing the horrible food making people sick. Stepping down off my soap box.
  22. That's great to have a room big enough for a pool table! I just go to my clubhouse in the compound. I don't think there is a commercial pool hall within 75 miles of my house! My oldest friend and I have a standing Tuesday afternoon game which we've been doing for over 8 years. It's a combination 9-ball game and "solve the world's problems session." His health has been failing a bit and lately it's been leaning heavily to talk more than pool! It's all good though.
  23. That's definitely true. Also, if they tell you to eat better, and you say, "Ok, what should I eat?" they are at a loss for words having never learned anything about nutritional science newer than 1970. They really have no clue.
