  2. Backburner : I wish i had you " salt " . I've bought lots of stuff that should have been returned but i just decided to live with it. These hi fi salesman have a way of making you feel like never coming back if you don't agree with them.
  3. Ya if we could get our buddy DALE to chime in , he's the painting and chrome plating & powder coating dude . Gezz ! imagine running a bodyshop and having this audio hobby ? What a perfect match.
  4. There has to be something to these things, 19 bids so far and $1555.00 with 7 days left in the auction. If they perform decent, it's really not a bad price for 2 complete speakers and 2 complete tube amps . I've never seen these before but they look intresting to say the least.
  5. Gezzzz JOHN !!! Your short answers scare the crap out of me .
  6. Now those carfrae's are something to look at, i much prefure that to the big round oris horn. Wonder what price range those would fall into. ?
  7. Backburner : Thats a good web page www.bd-design.com I see it's the " new " home of the oris stuff . The forum is a bit difficult to muddle your way around but a few smart cookies hanging out there .

You will have to enlarge the tweeter hole to use them. They are now installed at the factory on La Scalas as well as the Belle and K-horn. ---------------- Would you not have to remove / replace or reinstall the speaker cloth to inlarge the tweeter hole ? ( on a k-horn or belle ) Is this mod audible to the point of being noticable ?
  9. Sorry guy's , did'nt mean to say ringing ( more like vibrating ) you know what i meant anyway . Buddy of mine did his in truck bedliner and real thick !! I'd go more for the adjustable and less permanent approach myself.
  10. Holy crap jordan !!! thats a multi post . Go back to the main forum page - go down to the bottom , you'll find a forum called klipsch website in there you'll find a topic called inserting a picture in your post. Everything is explained in there, also a good place to practice.
  11. Search function is in the top right hand corner of this screen , type in the " key " word your looking for and hit search. This will bring up all past posts on the topic your looking for, try different words and combinations of words. If you have no success someone will chime in here and post you a link to a old thread.
  12. K-horns as mains , belle as center and the scalas in the rear. Best HT set up you could get, plus SACD or DVDA would rock. Give up those little corns to some tubie freak and stay with the matched drivers .
  13. " Search Engine " top right corner of your screen !! Yes it works, but so does rope caulking and undercoating . Anything to take the ringing out of the horn.
  14. ---------------- On 2/11/2004 9:21:30 PM BackBurner wrote: What do you charge for something like that ?? I've got a couple that are in need of lovin . ---------------- Dale has left this bb , hopefully he'll return some day. I'd try E-mailing him at painterstoy@yahoo.ca if you want to talk with him. I had some belles refinished by dale last year, his work is incredible and flawless .
  15. Notice the neck size and lack of scratch pads on those guitars ?? Come on guy's you must know something about the music you listen to , there classical guitars and by the look of what he listens to i'd say bass is not an issue to this guy. Is that not a relief port on the bottom ? Fullrange driver delivers sound from the front and rear of the driver, the rear sound is channel down in a progressive chamber and amplified out the bottom ( well thats sort of how it works )
  16. Horns are different beast - true !! I'll add to that , there not for everyone or every room . But truely hard to beat when setup properly.
  17. TBrennan- you are such a self center'd paranoid tool of unknown discription. Olny you would think to put 1 and 1 together and think he was talking about you. Ever stop to think you were " wrong " and his comments were just a generalization, before you start swinging insults ?? is everything about you ? Maybe he never responded to your ingnorant post because it was just that !! Maybe he's more of a man than you are. No where in any of his posts does he mention your name ? Yet your quick to come out swinging against him. I'm mad as hell about this because dale has helped me with more things than i can list all due to being here. Your so far off base about the inter-connects it's not even funny. They were never the problem ( he swapped out several pairs ) the problem was a loose connection at the amp but why go back and revisit a thread that you've already been called an idiot ? I talked to dale on the phone last night ( his 40th birthday yesterday ) and he will " not " be back. Thanks a bunch from all of us .
  18. ---------------- On 2/9/2004 9:27:21 PM st. patrick wrote: so why are we feeding on ourselves?? what is the purpose in insulting each other and chasing members away?? this thread starts on the subject of personal attacks, dale chimes in and suddenly gets dumped upon.....is the irony lost on anyone?? granted, and as i have said in posts asking for help (some with no response whatsoever), i don't know squat about audio...but i am here trying to learn. As naive as it sounds, i assumed others were here to share what they know, exchange ideas, and learn abit as well. Tom Brennan, unless our collective fecal matter is aromatic, i do not think it serves us well to chase people like dale away. patrick mccarthy ---------------- Exactly my point ! I'm no expert myself, thats why i come here. Why don't we ask mr Brennan what his post said " before " he went back and deleted the parts that made dale leave. I happen to have E-mailed dale today on another matter and know what was said. The moderators of this forum would have kicked you off in 1 second if they had got wind of that post.
  19. ---------------- On 2/9/2004 11:40:43 AM TBrennan wrote: Walker----No need to pounce on young girls when I can pounce on you, you're easier. You go out and spend 275 bucks on patchcords and don't even know that patchcords often cause noise and I'm an *******? You don't have the sense to start at the easiest and most obvious things but you know enough to spend big money on "interconnects". And now you're crying because an old man gave you a hard time. ---------------- Real nice !! Almost as nice as the garbage you left on his other post. Go back and re-read what dale was saying ( on the other thread ) , you'll see he was patting his friend craig on the back and thats all. You jump in like a super hero and crash his parade. Real nice again ? As for spending $275.00 on cables ?? I spend more than that on a bottle of wine to wash down kraft dinner, so that point is mute !
  20. Is there some method used for testing drivers ? How do you know when it's time to replace or rebuild a driver other than it stop working alltogether. Is there some method of checking them with a multi-meter ? or other means. I plan on updating my ak-2 networks to ak-3 specs but would like to find out the condition of my drivers first.
  21. Thanks for all the comic jabs fellas , but i've spent my time researching the forum on AK-2 TO AK-3 updating . My plan seems to be a compulation of all the suggestions and tested procedures thus far. I'm not trying to waste anyones time here , just asking if anyone has found " Fault " with any of the above mentioned. " or " has some constructive imput to add .
  22. I've got some free time coming up next month and would like to update my AK-2 crossovers. So i need to order parts in the next few days. Could you fellows in the know please review my plan and advise of any mistakes, suggestions would be great . Naturally the 100uf change to the woofer cap. I was thinking of a solen for this job ? good bad or ugly ? Then maybe deal with the inductor in the woofer curcuit. Say a air core 4mh with what gauge wire ? Moving up to the midrange , i was thinking of RelCap Audiocap PPT thetas in a 12uf and 1uf bypass. Then a 5mh air core inductor from parts express , think there brand is Jantzen. Good bad or ugly ? Tweeter time ! Again change out the caps to audio cap thetas staying with 2uf values. Anything i'm missing ? Values that should be different ? Parts that are better than others ? Really olny want to do this once so i would surely be thankfull for any help. How about any special type of solder for this job ?
  23. WOOOOOWWWWWW Dale !! everytime i see that picture it gives me goosebumps. I'll bring the movie and popcorn ? You supply the " Voltage "
  24. Easy does it dale , i think were both in the " it does'nt matter anymore " category. P.S I'll make you a deal , you sell me those black 89 k-horns of yours and i'll post my gear ??? That will still leave you with more klipsch speakers than 80% of us .
