  1. I'll have to pass on that Dale . Take 2 hours just to write down all the model numbers.
  2. Dale , go back to your original thread in updating older speakers and you'll see my offer for $4000.00 canadian. How about you post a picture of there new finish ?
  3. Amazing what the net is capabile of, reaching people of simaliar intrest around the world. Are most of the guy's on this site from the usa ? or do we have others with us ? how far does klipsch reach ? I'm from canada and bought my first klipsch product almost 20 years ago from a dealer in the lower vancouver area.
  4. $4000.00 ???????????????????????????????????????????????? INTRESTED ???? Your the last person on this site that needs any more gear Dale, how about selling them to someone else ?
  5. DALE - I'll give you $4000.00 canadian for them once your finished painting. You can E-mail me or use my PM box.
  6. Dale , your just sick to hook that " THING " into a pair of klipschorns. With your background you should know that paint stripper is alot less expensive than that setup for peeling the walls .
  7. I'm no expert in this field but i can tell you from my past experiance that the room makes all the difference in the world. I've moved my gear into dozens of cities and homes in the past 15 years with varied results. Not all were positive.
  8. Thanks Dale So am i to understand the tubes will be the same as the ones sold to the general public ?
  9. Being a relitive newcomer to the whole tube tech talk thing ( although i've owed many tube amps ) what do all the letters behind the tube numbers mean? Like 6SN7 (JAN ) or 6SN7 / CV _____ What do the letters mean ?
  10. Thanks john , you seem to appear on most of the cross over threads i've read so i'll trust your knowledge. Where is a good place to order the replacement parts ? some threads have mentioned parts express but i've had no dealings with any american suppliers as of yet. On another note, are the AL networks i've got in my lascalas worth any upgrading ? Plus should i be consider swapping out the monster cable clear jacket copper cable that currently resides in my k-horns? My lascalas have the older style zip cord.
  11. Thanks guy's , you've been a great help. I understand alot better now. The 100uf basicly gives the woofer more power, i was thinking of a cap being a storage devise and not a filter, it makes perfect sense now. I'll keep reading past posts and decide on the best parts and there source before i try to modify my own networks. Anymore help would be great.
  12. I've been following most of the cross over threads with great intrest, but i lack the circuit knowledge. Could someone be kind enough to try explain the circuit path and what the components functions are. I've got a few questions about the AK-2. 1) Whats the reason for changing the woofer caps to 100uf from the factory 140uf ? is this not a lower value ? 2)changing out the iron coil in the midrange circuit to an air coil of a higher value ( 4mh- 5mh ) ? 3) I've read one post where the 13uf in the squawker curcuit was updated but a bypass was used with 1 12uf and a 1 1uf . whats the reasoning here ? the reply from trey cannon to this post was speed of reaction and this curcuit is used in the pro-models ? Still don't understand. I would very much like to update my ak-2 networks but would like to know what physical changes are taking place in the cross- over and how it works, i'm thinking there are others here that don't understand but have yet to ask, so i'll ask for and explanation for all us less informed posters. Thank you.
  13. i've never had good luck with any RCA blackplates, i'm not suprised you never liked them. Good to hear your joining the ranks of the insane tube rollers . Watch your pocket book dale , loads of cash spent on tubes gives very subtle changes.
  14. Calgary area right ? I'll keep my eye out in the vancouver area for you .
  15. Glad to hear your happy dale. It's been a long road for you so far but i'm sure the wait was well worth the end result. Once i switched back to tubes i never looked back. Give it some time and i'm sure you'll be rewarded in the end.
  16. DALE: I realize what point your trying to convey, minus writing a novel here most are not going to understand what you mean. I however do, and i'm in the same boat. My taxes were higher than yours and i just shutter everytime i watch a protest on the tube. Goverments think for some reason that throwing money at a problem is a solution but it never is. You have to want to be helped and want to make something of yourself before the true meaning of a grant or funding can be realized. For those who throw it back in the faces of the giver under some pretence that the motive is wrong are truely undeserving from the start. The most racist people that i know are black and they are racist to one another more than to the white population. That of cource is not a generalization to the black comminity just to the few that i have business dealing with.
  17. DALE: Send me some info on those ST-70 amps your talking about, I know a few guy's that would be intrested. I take it they are in canada ? which would be great to cut down costs and shipping and $$ exchange.
  18. Sounds to me like you have spent some time on the old girls, it's one thing to mod one vintage unit but two at the same time is and undertaking in itself. With what you have described i could well imagine these dynaco's will now hold there own against a lot of the newer gear. As far as a push-pull amp goes , these should be right up there in the performance chart. And likly put a lot of ss gear to shame in the sonics dept.
  19. Very nice work mr NOS , I owned a pair of these myself back in the late 70's and never have one bit of problems with them. My speakers were not as efficient as the k-horn that mr walker has but the dynaco's had no problem keeping up with what i was using at the time. Not knowing the extent of your modification to these units or the output mode you have selected i,m not sure what improvement in sonic performance you have obtained. But even updating them with modern parts must be a great improvement over the very simple design they originated in. I've heard that disconecting the ulta taps is a nice touch on these dynaco's but i've yet to hear one thats obtained this mod.Did you switch them to dual biasing ? and which tubes ? kt-88 or 6550 .
  20. Hornsand whatever . I really don't see what a know it all needs with a forum such as this ? Your posts are always aggresive , hostile and personal.why don't you move your RF-7'S into the bathroom, mount a toilet paper dispencer on the side and sit there listening to your grunts in stereo while dwelling in your own stench. "PERIOD".
  21. Are you still loving to be new to klipsch ?? my original posting on your thread was directed at deans comments about the heritage line and the loons that own them. I never meant to undermind your purchase or say my toy is bigger and or better than yours. comparing rf-7's to k-horns is like apples to orgages, there two different beasts all together. Enjoy what you have now , if your anything like the rest of us you'll end up buying more. Dale : How do you get out of this black hole ?
  22. Heritage vs reference !!! Well sirfice to say i own a pair of both and have amp'd them both every wich way but sunday. k-horns buy far out perform the rf-7 in every case. what were dealing with here is personal preferance and listening habits, not a fully rounded comparision. BTW welcome to the forum and you did buy yourself a nice pair of speakers.
  23. Any links to past posts on this topic ? I was thinking of matting my horns , but wondering if matting the inside of the head section was worth doing as well.
