  1. I've got a friend who works at Tweeter - former Klipsch dealer, and now former Monster Cable/Power dealer - who said he could make me a "deal" on the Monster Power AVS 2000. I've got another friend - an independent dealer for all Klipsch, including Heritage - who also said he could make me a "deal". Funny how these guys said this within two weeks of each other, without me even asking about the unit! I suppose the AVS 2000 is being replaced (especially at Tweeter, who is going with Panamax). However, this looks like a good product, if the price is right. Any experience or opinions on this unit?
  2. Yes, it was a little expensive, but not out of line with other newer WL Belles I've looked at. Only one small mark on top, difficult to get a picture of (so the seller says). It's a 2004 model, bought in June this year and used for only 30 days as a center between Klipschorns. Guy sold is Klipschorns for some reason. I will have to take a road trip to get it in the next couple of weeks.
  3. This is my new center channel - just bought it! Something concerns me a little though, is the pie-slice logo on the left side original? I suppose a pair of Belles were "mirror images", one with a logo on the left, and one on the right - is this correct? The only new single Belles I have seen have the logo on the right side. No big deal - just curious. Also, does anyone know what year the new pie-slice logos started?
  4. Just to clarify - I looked at the labels again, mine are "Type KBBRO". I found out a lot from a few forum searches. Thumbs-up on the Heresys, but one of the Klipschorns is pretty messed up. However, he is about 300% too high on the Heresys.
  5. I think that these are pretty nice: http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/173343/ShowPost.aspx They are not "Brazilian Mahogany" as the thread states, they are actually Oiled Brazilian Rosewood "Type BRO's". Not to rub it in, but they really are beautiful, with a very high WAF - which brings me to my question. Do you have any contact information for the Rosewood Klipschorns and Heresys in Arkansas? I mentioned them to the Mrs. and she said, "aesthetically those would make the room look very nice" (the home theater room). She doesn't like the mix I have now of rosewood, walnut, black and unfinished birch cabinets. So, it wouldn't hurt to make contact - maybe the $7K is more negotiable this time of year. We may be taking a family trip to Arkansas during the Christmas Holiday. A U-Haul truck would be OK.
  6. Rudy, very nice HT setup - be sure to send photos from your new house! Where did you get the stands for your Heresy's and Forte's? I currently have Klipschorn mains, with Heresy's on the sides and rears, but am not completely happy with SACD and DVD Audio (more content in surrounds). I was thinking of going with Forte II's on the rears but thought that the timbre mismatch may be a problem. What's your experience?
  7. My '74 Heresy's have the gold outline pie slices and my '78 Heresy's have the reverse image band logos. This might give you a bracket to work with. This brings up another question for me. One pie slice fell off my '74's during shipment and I can't tell where it was (no glue residue). On Heresy pairs, were the pie slices on the same side of the cabinets or opposite sides?
  8. wrench_peddler, Yes, the new La Scalas have the AL-4 crossovers. Steve
  9. I posted the "warning" in the other thread about the serial numbers. I have serial numbers 1 and 2 of the new La Scalas in raw birch. I had to wait almost a year to get them - they were produced in March, 2003 (however, they were worth the wait - they sound fantastic). I think that this eBayer has some very nice late 90's vintage La Scalas, not the new ones, judging by the crossovers. Steve
  10. Just a word of caution - I would take this eBayer's description with a grain of salt. Note that the labels pictured appear to be from a pair of La Scalas finished in black lacquer, not raw birch. Also, the AL-3 is not the newest crossover. The new AL-4 components are mounted on a circuit board, not a real board (as pictured). And besides, I have serial numbers 0001 and 0002 in raw birch. I'm sure these are very nice speakers, just be careful.
  11. Art, Please put me down for a set. A check will be on the way to you early next week. Thanks! Steve
  12. John, Since you asked about the new La Scalas, I'll take a short diversion and pass along some information. This comes from a very reliable inside source. The tweeters will be made by BNC, P Audio will make the mid's, and Eminence will make the woofers. The bass will still drop off rapidly below 50 Hz, but the mid-range prominence (slight high volume harshness) will be reduced. Highs will be more extended, up to 20 kHz. The sound will be more neutral overall, compared to the "old" La Scalas, with a smoother blend between the drivers. Drivers are unique to Klipsch are were co-engineered to work with the new crossovers (driver and crossover development took about a year). Tweeter and mid horns will be flush mounted on front of the faceplates. Steve
  13. It's high time that I surfaced - I've been a "read only" guy for several years, but an event has happened that warrants some communication. I am the buyer of the PWK signed Rosewood Klipschorns. Yes, they were expensive, but I know you guys understand. My wife even thought they were "pretty" and understood their historical significance - with the high WAF, what else could I do? Rest assured that they are going to a good home where they will be fed a steady diet of tube sourced amplification and kept in pristine condition. I am originally from a town close to Hope, Arkansas, so I grew up with Klipsch as a local product. I've been a huge fan since the mid 70's and, besides speakers, own a closet full of Klipsch brochures, coffee cups, T-shirts, Bulls**t buttons, etc. from the last 40 years. As more proof of my obsession, here's a list of my current, and near future, Klipsch inventory: - '82 Rosewood Klipschorns signed by PWK. - '02/'03 La Scalas (ordered last June, but still not here). - '76 Heresies (original). - '76 Heresies (with T350 tweeters). - '74 Heresies. - '91 Forte II's. - Early Heresy Industrials. - '02 RC7. I'll keep you posted. Steve
