  2. I live in Toronto and have had the same problem finding a pair of K-Horns..A pair showed up two years ago in the local "buy and sell" but I did not have the cash..He wanted $2000 cdn. Last August another pair turned up in the buy and sell but we wanted $3500cdn. They were 1987 oiled walnut. At the time I still did not have the cash. Anyways, about a month ago I look in the buy and sell and this guy still has his k-korns for sale. Apparently he had several offers at $3000cdn but was holding out for $3500. I had the cash now so I checked them out and bought them..They are gorgeous speakers..I didn't know how long before I would see another pair in Toronto so I went over my budget to get the 87 K-Horns....I am not dissapointed I did...
  3. The Last Waltz.....Incredible, directed by Martin Scorcese, with great performances by Neil Young, The Band, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Muddy Waters, Eric Clapton, Neil Diamond etc etc.. Neil Young's Silver and Gold is also another excellent live show....
  4. There is a HK450 for sale locally..Is this a similar model to the HK430 which appears to very popular with Klipsch owners?? He wants $60 for the unit and indicates it works perfect....
  5. Two excellent concerts DVD's are Neil Young's Silver and Gold and the Band's Last Waltz..The NY dvd is a full set of acoustic music featuring songs from his superb Silver and Gold cd and a few songs from the past. One of the greatest guitarists of all time..The Last Waltz is another incredible concert featuring The Band, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Neil Diamond, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, The Staples, Ronnie Hawkins etc etc.. Directed by Martin Scorcese, it's a visual masterpiece with great behind the scene footage..This is a must see if you like music....
  6. That sucks....I was referring to digital audio so now I need another DVD player with SACD..Thanks for your reply....
  7. My girlfriend bought me a Sony DVD for Christmas but I am only now getting around to hook it up..It's definately not a high end model. I think it's a DVP NS415..Is this unit capable of playing digital audio cd's or do I need an upper end unit..I try to tell people not to buy me equipement until I do the research but it's the thought that counts I guess..Me and my new K-horns await your response..... AH
  8. Ijust bought a 5800 and a pair of K-Horns..The horns won't be here for a while and try out my receiver....I want to hook my Bose 901's to the 5800 for the interim. Any idea how I can hook up the 901's active eq to my avr5800?? I can't figure it out.... Thanks Ah
  9. I just came across this add if anyone is interested.... Klipsch Kornerhorns K-horns less than 6 months old Asking $4500.00 obo New Retail $7200.00 Condition 9/10 Days/Views 3 / 483 Ship cost Plus shipping Ship from 280 lbs from 53066 Ship to USA only Included Box, Manual About Seller Jdvorak (30) (send email) (view feedback) (other items) Pay Terms Money Order, Personal Check Description These beautiful walnut lacquered Klipsch Kornerhorns were just purchased this last fall by one of my customers. Unfortunately, the room that he was to use them in is not the most desirable set up...these need a BIG room. He decided to go with a pair of Snell XA series and is much more pleased, but hates to see these go. The kornerhorns are now only available via special order from Klipsch. Don't wait, have yours today! Local purchaser in Milwaukee/Chicago/Mpls preferred. Will ship, but buyer to pay shipping expense. Any questions, ask away. Pictures available, if needed.
  10. I am sounding very illiterate in that last posting....Even in this one....I had to correct the whole first sentence....Too many drinks again and the excitement of my new K-Horns.... It's like a whole new sound, really, I cannot believe that after all these years I thought that my Bose 901's were IT....I figured the K-Horns were be the main fronts, the 901's the rears.....Change of plans....The K-Horns will shred the fabric on the Bose.....
  11. Forget about building La Scala's,,,,buy a pair in Canada and have them shipped to the U.S....There is a guy with a mint pair La Scala's in Toronto who is asking $1500 or b/o...That equates to about about $900US..... AH
  12. Bought the K-Horns.... Now I know what all the fuss is about..My jaw did drop at the sight of the k-horns today, and the sound, it was jubiltation..I was prepared to love or hate the k-horns, something about not every liking horns blah blah....These babies weren't corner positioned and it was a new music revelation..I took my friend who could care less about music audiophylillia and he was is disbelief about the sound of these beautifull walnut k-horns....They were in this rich guys indor swimming pool room positioned about 4 ft from any wall etc..My friend raved all the way home about the K-horns..It was a confirmation of a life long dream..My Bose 901's were always the admiration of my friends who figured I was the lucky guy who owned Bose flagship....I am having a get together two Friday's from now to introduce my new K-Horns to them..They will be stunned!!!!!!!! This is a new level of listening that happened today.....We can burn the 901's for fuel... They are 1987 oiled walnut.....There is not a mark on them. They have been for sale since Aug 19th...Why he didn't sell them is a mystery to me....Some guy was dickering on these for about 2000us but the seller wanted 2200...., big deal....These babies are mint..... Unbelievable AH
  13. Whoa...Thanks to everyone for their keen insights into my purchasing K-Horns..I am meeting with the seller on Saturday and will report back shortly after. If they are as mint as he says I will be buying them for sure. I don't expect a great performance out of the speakers as apparently they are being driven by an old Realistic type receiver..Hopefully my Denon 5800 will be an improvement. At the end of the day if I don't like them I am sure I can turn around and sell them for what I payed. Will report back soon....
  14. After talking further with the fellow about his K-Horns I learned the following. Finish- Oiled Walnut Year - 1989 He is an older fellow who apparently does not use them often. They are hooked to a very old non tube receiver. As far as the condition, this fellow indicates there is not a mark on them. He would " fall out of his chair" if he knew of any chips marks etc. They are mine for $2200US..A good deal or not?? I haven't seen a pair for sale in my neck of the woods in a couple of years.. I have to be honest and say that I have never seen or heard Klipschorns in person. After researching speakers for a couple of years I have come to the conclusion that I want K-Horns..My mind is set..Do you think I will be disappointed when I audition them on Saturday??
  15. I agree with you. To many threads..Reactor had a little too much to drink last night. You know us Canadians and our love for music and beer....Anyways, thanks for the info....
  16. More questions If I buy these K-Korns does my Denon AVR5800 have enough juice to power these babies. I keep hearing about powering them with separates, I am worried that I will be losing the full impact. I just bought the 5800 so going to separates is impossible.... What are your thoughts?? Art
  17. Here is the Newbie again regarding K-Horns and Home Theatre..I am negotaiting hard with a fellow and his K-Horns. I had earlier indicated that I would like to use them as front speakers in my home system. They are apparently 1990 K-Horns in mint condition. He want's about $3000 CDN ($2000US). Is this a decent deal?? Should I consider other speakers as front's, ie B&W's etc..Honestly, I have never heard K-Horns, only read great reviews by their owners. Is this enough to make a decision on?? Unfortunately I cannot find any dealer in Toronto who has them on display.. Eagerly waiting insight..... Art
  18. Sounds like maybe the Klipschorns might do the trick as fronts then....That's for the insights....
  19. Would the Klipschorns make a practical front speaker in a home theatre setup?? I have an oppotunity to pick a pair up for a song..My receiever is a Denon AVR5800.. Thanks Art
