  1. I am running rotel amps and they are great amps for the money. They have plenty of power and are very clean and quite. I would say they are a good match for Klipsch.
  2. You need a better amp. Get a amp with some power and your forte's will never sound so good. My father had forte's and the bass from them was great. You could get that great slam in your chest. 250 watts into 8 ohms, 500 into 4 ohms and 1000 into 2 ohms will give you that great sound.
  3. Take the audio out of the dvd player and hook it up to the receiver. Then select the same input on the receiver as you pluged the cable in and injoy.
  4. That is a good player. You will never go back to a standard dvd player agian. Intill true hd ones come out.
  5. I am thinking of selling these do to upgrade to a new speaker. I live near Milwaukee WI. I do not have the boxes anymore and they are in perfect condition. Smoke free house and always used with good amps. If anybody is inter. let me know. Make offer, I will not ship
  6. Now all you need is an updscaling dvd player to realy injoy that new display. They make a huge differnce and displays like yours. Congrats on the new tv.
  7. Take it apart and clean the lazer lens with a Q-tip and some cleaner. If that doesn't fix it then the lazer needs to get refocused and that will cost more then buying a new one.
  8. No I have never had this problem and I am very picky. I would double check that you have the sound compression turned of in your dvd player. They all use a differnt word for it so find it in your manual and then turn it off. If you have this turned off already then check your speaker connections. Make double sure there are no stray strands hanging out at the terminals. Otherwise I think it is going to be a receiver problem. I have watched a lot of movies, I mean alot and have never had this problem. I have had issues with receivers going bad over time a producing distortion into the signal and higher sound levels.
  9. You don't have to stick with the same brand pre. Find the one that has the best options for your system and get that one. I for one would wait to buy one for a little while longer. There is a huge shift going on right now with hdmi, and hdmi ver. II. The good pre's will have have the new formats in the next couple of months. But just my opion.
  10. Yes you could blow your speakers due to a clipping amp. Or the more likely of a problem will be your amp will shut down due to over heating.
  11. I had 7 NAD 2200pe's in my system for some time. They were ok amps need alot of relay replacing. They had lab inputs that gave the amp a much better sound. They realy don't shine intill you bridge them though. Infact I even clipped them with my RF3II's. The house was a rocken and I couldn't hear any knocken. I sold the amps a while back due to they were noisy and I bought some quiter amps.
  12. I vote for the plasma. The sony has issue with fast moving picture. It gets blurry. Why do you think that all stores that sell these things only play slower moving hd content. I think for the slower moving scenes and still pictures the sony has a better picture, but induce a fast moving movie and the Pioneer will win hands down.
  13. You are correct. You use the receiver to control the gains of the other channels. I did this and am still doing it. I run a rotel 380 watt 2 channel amp with there 5 channel 200 watt amp. It works great and it lets you save some money for the upgrade bug later.
  14. Don't forget to look at rotel. They have a great amp for the price. A 125watt amp will give a big jump in improvement over a receiver. I would look at a 5 channel for now and use the receiver amps for the rears. This will save you some big bucks. Also it will save you lots on money.
  15. Is this a HD box? I don't think that a differnt pre-amp will solve your problem. It is your cable box. They are having all kinds of problems like this with these new digital cable and HD box. Before you sell your pre-amp do a couple of searches on your cable box on google and make sure it is a box issue.
  16. That is a great reciever. Actually one of the only reciever that actual produces more power than what it is rated at. As for the yamaha to denon differnce I don't think it is worth the money. I have ran many differnt receivers over the years with RF3II's. You best option is to get a seperate amp and hook that up. That is a night and day differnce. Even if it is only for the front two speakers. It frees so much more juice up for the rest. If your yamaha has pre-outs get a amp. You will never look back and you will never thank me so much. It is that big of a differnce even at lower volumes. The crossover setting is something you have to adjust for your room. Every room has a little differnt need. I feed everything to mine, No cross over setting. I have also set them at 40 and it sounded real good that way as well. But I am running some real big ss amps for the main and I pick up a lot more bass that way.
  17. I have had both players and the denon is worth the extra money if you listen to sacd and dvd-a. The audio section in the denon is much more refined. The picture quility is about the same in the two players, they use the same video chips. Just remember that hd dvd is going to take a while for them to get rolling. Many movie guys will not shot on digital media and that is what you need to get a true hd picture, so the film converted hd dvd will look just like your upscaled dvd picture.
  18. I am selling my Zenith 318 upscaling dvd player if anyone wants it. It still has the older firmware that lets you upscale through the components. This is great for people that don't have dvi or hdmi connection on there tv. Just thought I would post it here first because this player is very rarer and will be put on ebay.
  19. I am sorry to say but the main compliant of the rf 5 and rf7's is that they are to sharp. Plus have to much ear fatigue, which is because of the highs. You can also read into this by the way they are starting to market them, when saying improved highs, in every article so far. I think these new speakers are getting them closer to some of the best, ie the forte's chorus etc. I believe if they tamed the highs and the resonance problems then these speakers will be a big improvement over the current reference line. Be prepared to upgrade.
  20. If that is all you want then I would look for a 4800 or 4802 used. You will get all of the power as there big dog at a huge fraction of the cost. Everyone gets the upgrade bug but these were some of the best machines Denon has made. The unit you are looking at is cheap and the sound quility is not that great. This is also the reason the cheaper units of the other manufators.
  21. Ok this is what I would do. I would get a big 2 channel amp for the two mains, and then a smaller 5 channel amp for the rest. Most the sound comes out of the main two. Plus for those realy good songs he hear will sing loud and clean with a big two channel. You forgot to list the rotel multi channel amps. They have a big bang for the buck. You have a good list and buying used gets you a better amp for the money. I think you need to narrow down how you want to hook the system up first then your amp list will get smaller and we can help you more then.
  22. The Denon will work fine with rf 7's. To get the most out of them you will need a good solid state amp to drive them.
  23. I would say the best way to wire the Rotel and Denon are NOT to bi wire. The rotel is a much better amp than the denon and you will only lose sound quality. Let me know how you like the the XLR cables I was thinking of getting some my self to try.
  24. I have a similar set up, with no buzz. most likly you have a bad rca cable or one strand of wire is touching the other post on the speakers. I sure hope you took the jumper out of the speaker post to bi-wire like this. Otherwise get a 3 prong to 2 prong adaptor, Ground loop issue. You should have no buzz at all. The rotels are dead quit.
  25. Caps do wear out. Like was stated heat kills all electronic things. When they start to go bad you will hear cap noise. It can be a slight hum almost like a ground loop hum. Most good ss amps will last 20 years +
