  1. I am reading two Advent devotionals. Very good reads and I highly commend them to you.
  2. Our female is due on 11/15. This is her 2nd litter, and she is AKC registered. The male has 2 AKC grand champions in his line, and both are chocolate English labs. These puppies will be chocolate english labs. 8 Weeks puts the estimated date for their forever home, the week of January 10th. Message or respond for more information. The first pic is the momma & the second is the sire. The final pic is a 6 month old female from the momma's only other litter with a yellow sire (also a grand champion bloodline). These are legit, high caliber labs.
  3. I posted this on another forum where I had asked about the difference between these competing room calibration products. Just a follow-up for anyone who might have the same question I had regarding the difference between ARC and DiracLive. On my system, DiracLive seemed to soften or numb the highest frequencies in its calibration. The DiracLive calibration made a stunning difference in my room, in fact, it was the best my system had ever previously sounded by a wide margin. It was my first experience with room calibration of any type. Full disclosure, I was running a Processor that pre-dated HDMI. A 2001/2002 Rotel unit that still performed as well as the day I brought it home. I matched it with a MiniDSP DDRC-88A/B with DiracLive which fed into my 5x120w Rotel Amp. I transitioned to a 2016 model Anthem AVR as a processor running the same Rotel Amp. Could that be the cause of the outcome? Perhaps to a degree. I felt that while running the Anthem (no ARC) and the DiracLive with the MiniDSP, I heard a more lively sound than using the Rotel processor, but not nearly as lively as when I ran ARC and pulled Dirac out of the line. I was skeptical about the quality of ARC and reluctant to let go of my stand-alone DiracLive box because I had a pre-disposed bias toward Dirac based on my experience with the results of Dirac and with some who said DiracLive was the best of the room calibration software. I also thought the ARC microphone wasn't up to the task comparative to the Umic-1, again, just based on so much praise for Umic-1. A couple of observations about ARC. 1st, ARC provided a much more lively result than DiracLive. Back are my higher frequencies that I was missing, which I mistook for just the result of room correction on Dirac's calibration of my room. 2nd, ARC appears to be a more advanced calibration specific to Anthem products in that it discovers the sweet spot for the crossover point on all channels relative to that speaker's performance. Normally, I would have balked at this because it set a crossover point for my center at an unusually high crossover (180) compared to the setting I would have chosen (80). Why is that? Because in my system, since Klipsch does not make a true (traditional) Heritage center for my Forte speaker's, I was forced to compromise either timbre by using another Klipsch center or a make and model with matching timbre, in my case, the Crites Center channel designed to timbre match the Heritage.... but is a 4ohm speaker with different capabilities. So, the sweet spot for the crossover is what it is. Amazingly, based on the content I have watched so far, that high crossover point has not created the obvious localized bass response from my subs that I would have suspected. So, in addition to the return of the full benefit of my system's high frequency, the net result is a much better calibration of my speaker's capabilities, which has yielded a much more robust sound output. Finally, overall, so far, I feel as though ARC is a better product, at least a more advanced product. I still have much to learn about ARC and how to tweak the calibration, and I still have much content to watch/listen to observing the nuances, but the early results are, ARC is better, not by a mile, but better non-the-less. I hope this helps someone else down the road.
  4. Basic question. The owner's manual on the Anthem AVR MRX520 suggested around 6 or 7" area of clearance around the unit for proper ventilation. I have about an inch. I am using the unit with a separate amp, but I am assuming the internal amp is still turned on and have noticed it does get warm. If I put a fan on the back of my cabinet, should I pull air from the front to back, or blow air from back to front? This is the fan I am considering: https://www.amazon.com/Wathai-Cooling-Receiver-Router-120mm/dp/B07V5LJ5L2/ref=sr_1_7_sspa?crid=QW4N60V5PZU4&keywords=cooling%2Bfan%2Bfor%2Bxbox%2Bseries%2Bx&qid=1636040395&sprefix=cooling%2Bfan%2Caps%2C184&sr=8-7-spons&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzTlJQUko1OEFVQVpJJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMjg5MjUzMVhQNFI0VTdHUjI5TSZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwODc5Nzg4MTVSR1daWFpKSjFMVCZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX210ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU&th=1&fbclid=IwAR1FBCyNoTyoJP8UeWegENXdM-HGC0lVB7XVOpQhJhjmX0PilZI6UV3AJaI
  5. That is definitely the combination I would have gone with. I think it is the best looking, but my wife wanted the Cherry finish and so, the Cherry finish we got. Those wont last long.
  6. I have other shots but the file sizes are too large. I can dm if interested.
  7. Asking $399.00 OBO. I WILL SHIP at your expense. Get me your zip and I'll get a quote for you. I bought this new. We are non-smokers and I find absolutely no flaws with this unit. I rate it a 10/10 cosmetically and as a performer. It comes in all of the original packaging with the original manual, remote, and power cord. In fact, we hardly ever used the remote as I have used an all-in-one Home Theater Master's MX500 for the past 19 years. The only knock on the unit is its age. I purchased this in 02 if I remember correctly. Below is a copy and paste from the Rotel website: The RSP-1066 Surround Sound Processor/Preamplifier combines – as do all 10 Series components – flexibility, superior performance, and easy operation. The RSP-1066’s extraordinary flexibility begins with inputs and outputs to easily accommodate the most demanding system configurations. You can connect up to eight sources, five of them video-based, plus a CD player, external tuner, and an analog tape recorder. In addition, there are five assignable digital audio inputs, 3 coaxial and 2 optical. And a seven channel “Multi” input keeps the RSP-1066 ahead of the “future-format” curve. To increase your viewing pleasure, the RSP-1066 includes inputs and switching for composite, S-video, and component video sources. Custom ID capability lets users program the front panel display so that all A/V input selections display the name of the selected component. Advanced microprocessors from Crystal Semiconductor handle Dolby Digital (complete with dynamic range adjustments), dts, and Dolby Pro Logic II decoding. The RSP-1066 also automatically detects and decodes dts ES, dts ES Discrete, HDCD, and MP3-encoded audio. There’s also dts Neo:6 mode for cinema sound and music. Six other DSP modes (Music 1-5 CH Stereo, and 7 CH Stereo) complement traditional two-channel stereo operation to make the RSP-1066 more than suitable for any source. An adjustable subwoofer crossover (40 to 120Hz in 20Hz increments and Off) lets you tune the RSP-1066 to perfectly match your speakers. And “on the fly” center, surround and subwoofer level adjustments mean you can adjust the RSP-1066’s response to perfectly match your preferences, too. The RSP-1066 boasts two additional preamplifier outputs to feed, through appropriate amplification, an additional pair of speakers. This gives home theater enthusiasts, particularly those with larger rooms, the spatial benefits of the newest surround formats. To fully protect your investment, this advanced processor benefits from upgradeable software, too. To keep potential confusion at bay, you can link a processing mode to a particular input so that, for example, selecting “CD” automatically invokes two channel operation while “DVD” calls up Dolby Digital as the default setting. The RSP-1066 easily integrates into the most advanced custom-designed systems. There’s an RS232 computer interface, 12 volt “trigger” outputs, and discrete on/off remote control command codes. Multi-source/multi-zone operation even allows volume adjustment of the remote zone from the RSP-1066’s front panel. A fully programmable universal remote control makes operation of the RSP-1066 and up to nine other components fingertip-easy. We’ve left for last what some regard as Rotel’s most salient point – sound quality. If any one thing distinguishes the RSP-1066 from its erstwhile competition, it is the exacting care in parts selection, circuit design with particular attention to the power supply, and extensive listening tests. The result is clear audible superiority. Typically flexible. Typically convenient. Typically Rotel.
  8. Haha, can't believe nobody else caught that. My wife's been adding that to her coffee.
  9. @Schu that bird looks like it stayed too long in the sun! 😀. I havent spatchcocked a turkey, but have done that with chicken, definitely an even cook.
  10. We eat at 11 if I do my job right.
  11. I’ve never liked turkey if I’m honest. A lot of Thanksgivings', I don't eat any of it at all. The closest I come to tolerating it is the dark meat. I decided to get a turkey breast, (bone-in) and followed Jeremy Yoder’s (Mad Scientist BBQ) recipe injecting the breast with butter mixed with ancho chili powder and chipotle chili powder. Smoked at 200 for 2 hours, then 325 till it hit 165 IT, roughly another 1.5-2hrs. Just salt and pepper for the rub. Smoked with Pecan. Oh.... my.... goodness. By far, the best turkey I’ve ever had. I think I can eat turkey after all. Annnnnd, my father-in-law is handing over the reigns to me to provide the bird for Thanksgiving. I gave him a sample and I think he gave me the biggest compliment he ever has given me when he said it was the best turkey he's ever had. (He is a man who doesn't normally throw rainbow bouquets around.) Link to video if anyone is interested:
  12. I read the closed captioning while watching the movie. It is a great read.
  13. Thanks. Seems like a no-brainer then. Not sure why an end user would choose different audio input than HDMI.
  14. So, I am finally upgrading my 20 year old Rotel processor (works great but no HDMI) for a used 2016 Anthem that offers a wide variety of connection options. For video, the clear winner seems to be HDMI, but is that true for audio? I have the option for HDMI (7 inputs), component (5 inputs) , optical (3 in puts), & Coaxial (2 inputs). From what I understand, I can assign any audio input with any video input. Since I haven't had to deal with this many variations, what is the preferred order of operation. Any in put (pun intended) would be appreciated. The ones I am unsure about that I will be connecting is a Tivo device with a variety of options & an external DAC which I run my phone through. I'm pretty sure everything else is HDMI only, unless my Blue Ray offers a component or Coaxial option.
  15. I am in need of MS Word advice. I have used the border shortcut ### in a word doc in several places. But, I have two of these that will not delete now that I have decided to do something different. I can't even select them and delete them. I have shut down Word and even restarted the computer and still nothing. Does anyone have any solutions for this? If it matters, it is Word for Mac.
  16. Football is largely a game of chess mixed with deception. By allowing the lineman to retreat and set-up for whatever the call was, they are in a better position to execute their plan.

    Duh Raiders….

Being a Chiefs fan from KC originally, I have been raised with a certain loathing for all things Raiders. But, I kind of feel for the team and absolutely hate what this does for Gruden's future. Not apologizing in any way for what he communicated at all. But, having experienced my share of having to eat humble pie, he has some really long days ahead for him of reflection, regret, but tremendous potential for personal growth. But no matter where he goes or what he does in life, there will likely be people who will always remember this moment in his past and hold it against him regardless of what he does to grow as a person. And that is sad.
  18. The form the wall based on the call of the ST coaches on what they hope to do on the return.
  19. Literally just started the 1st chapter of the book, "If Christ Were Your Counselor" copyright 1993.
  20. If I message you one of the graphics, would you judge the complexity of it and know what you would charge?
  21. In the for what its worth department... I'd like to be counted among the "and others" for that cinnamon coffee cake and we can call that even! 😀
  22. That is a great point. Ownership is the key. I do want to be fair. Thanks for your thoughts.
  23. I hope he needs more than my contribution to retire! 😀
  24. I had a guy that is a member of the church I pastor design 3 variations of the same logo that I hope to use in publishing and for personal application. We never discussed price and when I asked him what I owed, he said whatever you think it is worth. So.... now I am a bit stuck. I ran a google search and it looks like the going hourly rate for freelance work in my area is around $27 an hour. Does anyone have any experience with this that can guide me? I'd like to pay him for his work, but I don't want him to think I am lowballing him, but don't want to break the bank. I was thinking $100.00. Thoughts?
