  1. If you want you could buy or make vibration isolators to put inbetween your speakers and your amps. Haven't done it myself but have seen two doit yourselfs that were interesting. One used tennis balls and one used those really soft balls that you can squeeze for ????? Randy
  2. So, enough said about that. Once the amp has drained off, use a good cleaner like "De oxit" You could order this during the time the amp is just sitting. You want to remove the oxidation, but also apply a lubricant to the moving parts of the switch, and de oxit will do both. I've cleaned countless volume and tone controls with WD-40, and de oxit is much better. ...just trying to be on the safe side, Erik ---------------- Amen to the deoxit Erik,it's worked for me too. And a good warning also. That said, have fun with your Yamaha urukian. Randy

  5. If I were just looking for a pair and didn't already own some I'd pick these up and sell the 3 I didn't need. He already has ALK's in 3 of these.
  6. How are the crossovers different for the belles? I thought they use the same components as the lascalas?
  7. Marks dad, i'll take you up on your generous offer.I'll gladly pay shipping and I'll send on the albums I don't want to any other member.Randy
  8. I have an old RCA red seal album to give/trade. Beethoven, symphonies nos 1 and 9. Toscannini with the NBC Symphony Orchestra. Disco Boogie Vol 2 damn near perfect Leonard Bernstein "rhapsody in blue" "an american in paris" in good shape On the RCA: I'm not an expert on condition but these are not pristine. Side 2 and 3 have scratches on them while 1 and 4 seem to be in really good shape. The box holding them has water marks on it and is in bad shape also although the program notes are in excellant shape. Cleaned up side 3,the worst and played it.Sorta noisy but it did not skip and was listenable. Hears some cd's also. Nappy Roots "Watermelon chicken and gritz" Kenny G "The Moment" Hope to have a more complete list soon
  9. Haven't had any tone controls on my main listening system for close to 20 years. The Counterpoint 7.0 didn't have any and the Blueberry also doesn't. I haven't felt the need to change any music put on the system although some has been taken off rapidly. If the Blueberry had come with tone controls I'd have still bought it but doubt that they'd be used very often. Some of you can probably relate to a friend of mine who uses his equalizer all the time and tweaks it on almost all his cd's. Talk about not having time to just listen and enjoy. But he does enjoy it and that's ok. On the car system I do turn up the base and treble, lol.

What the HELL are you reading that says I introduced the race issue? It's yahoos like you who half read something, know even less, and start spouting off in a self righteous manner that are truely tiring. You're a perfect match for the blue bird club of nitwits. Klipsch out. ---------------- Jazman, I've seen plenty of posts in which you bring up race. I've never seen anybody else do it. I'm sure someone has but I've not seen it. NOW for the name calling. So I'm a NITWIT and a YAHOO. Ouch. I can only half read. I know even less than I half read. I'm joining a club of blue birds. I've got plenty on my table, yes sir. By the way, I just adopted an orange wing amazon parrot that flew into a co-workers yard about 5 weeks ago. Have had him for two weeks now and he's just as mean as Paul Parrot. I truly believe if we were to meet we'd get along, you'd have pity on a mentally challanged individual such as myself. Again, have a nice day. Go Bengals! Randy

  12. Dean, Let the blue bird respond for himself. He made the post which at least tends to indicate some connection to the response he received. I could say more based on other things that the blue bird has written, but wait for his response to what was presented. Klipsch out. PS. Still waiting. BTW, John Coltrane overcame his addiction and did not die of drug related causes. ---------------- You should really get over the race issue here jazman, i have never heard anyone here being racially (SP?) prejudiced. 14. I could not agree more, too much magic, not enough common sense.Come on, the signal passes thru 200' of magnet wire.Duh,is 3' of magic wire gonna bring the losses back, I DON'T THINK SO!LOL Anyway, please everyone have a good weekend, Randy
  15. (Randy, if you type 5u4 into eBay a number of options come up. Just look for blackplates and the older the better. If you don't get the first set, just keep looking, a couple of pairs seem to come up every week. The past couple of weeks has seemed like a slow time and the prices have been a little cheaper than in June.) (Jim, for that price they are well worth it, not as cheap as Allan got his for, but still a good buy.) (Guys, it would like to take credit for this, but Allan Songer recommended these to me and I just passed the information along to you. I liked the end result, so I helped someone else along the line. You need to thank Allan for the information.) Don, thanks for the reply,I'll check it out when we get back from our fun filled vacation this weekend. I have 5 GE 5U4GA/GB,2alike,2 alike but taller and one with a different looking top plate completely, the other 4 are round but this top plate is squared off. 2 Sylvania 5U4's,black base, halos and red writing on the base, lettering gone 3 Tung-Sol 5U4GB's 1 RCA with a flared base, starts small and gets bigger 2 GE GZ34/5AR4's, look the same inside but one glass is taller 1 RCA 5U4GB/5AS4 Duh, my edit is are any of these tubes supposed to be anything? My macs are using chinese 5u4's now and sounding fine. If I don't reply, I'm going to bed and then to Tennessee. Good weekend to all!
  16. Thanks Don, I'll wait and maybe bid if these don't get too crazy. Randy

My 274B tubes came in a big lot of mostly worthless TV tubes for $50 at the Rose Bowl swap meet about 15 years ago. There were about 100 tubes and the only things worth a damn were the three 274B and some RCA 12BH7. I bought the U52 out of Australia back in the early 1990's when they were "only" $50 each. The Brimars I got on the VERY early days of ebay (1998 or 1999)---I bought 6 of them for about $80 from a guy in Manitoba. But you know what? Those 1940's black plate coke-bottle Sylvanias are right up there with ANY of this exotic stuff and you can still get them for about $10 ea.!!!!!! ---------------- Hi Allen, you mentioned getting black plate Sylvania rectifiers for 10 bucks a pop. Would you mind telling me where??? Have 2 macs that need a pair each and would love to find some. Thanks, Randy
  18. Not a tech but I also remember being told this is bad, until someone with more knowledge answers I'd definately not do it.
  19. How about a few pics of the twins, us old geezers have been living with our imagination far to long

It doesn't serve your interests. Someone's looking to spend $1000, on a phono preamp to match a very low output (0.15 mV) MC cartridge - and gets a blueberry or a peach recommendation. Come on, Mr saint, they can't handle LOMC and one of them doesn't even have a phono input, but Mr saint keeps quiet and enjoys the free PR instead of mentioning anything, or the fact that they're not in that price range (unless you purchase them on ebay ). Guess what, the VTL Ultimate, Hagerman, Loesch, Paragon etc, didn't fit as well, and weren't recommended (by me, at least). Like some other members, I'm out of this Juicy Music Sh!t forum, for a while. Sayonara Guy, I do try to stay out of all the nonsense but can't here. You are one negative son of a beeouch. That said, you don't seem to be bad all the time. Feel the love. Randy ----------------
  21. Hey Mark, how're your new amps coming along? All those soldering fumes have probably aged those lascalas to perfection Craig. If we ever move I'll be sure to find house with walls that will support K's.It was a big dissapointment to have them here and sound so bad.Just a bad room for them.
  22. Don't want to confuse the issue but khorns did not work in my house.Lascala's kick *** here.Second set of Lascala's in here now.Really, the k's sucked in this room, believe me I wish it was different.
  23. Bought an album for my first music experience, cost me an arm and a leg. The Spencer Davis Group with Steve Winwood, the one with I'm a Man on it. As I remember it I was disapointed in the album, only 2 songs that I really liked. Took me a long time to buy another. Listened to it on my parents console. Really didn't start buying much music until 8 tracks came out.
