  1. HI All, I followed your recommendations - have the latest firmware update installed and managed to not brick the bar48. The sound is amazing and I really dont want to return it. But the bluetooth continues to be an issue. My phone (S20) recognizes the Bar 48, however will not connect, the phone notifies me that 'This devices needs an app to connect'. Downloaded the Play-Fi Klipsh stream app, powered up the app and put the bar48 in bluetooth pairing mode and.... nothing. Just does not pair... tried restarting the app, on/off the speaker and nothing. The work around I found for playing music, is via Chromecast. Chromecast -> TV -> Optical out -> Bar48. Works but bluetooth will be way more convenient. Any other things you guys recommend I try?
  2. After an exchange due to issue with the rear speakers, the new BAR 48 I just received is really disappointing in sound. Surrounds and subwoofer are at the maximum level and I can barely hear them. The one I had before I kept them at 50%, maybe one or two led light up, and it was high enough... and the subwoofer vibration was high enough to create an earthquake. With the last one, the highest firmware update was the one issued on November 2019 (v83). With the new one, it gives me the one released on May 15th (v30). Is it related to that?! However, I am so disappointed. After waiting more than one month to get a new one, I just want to return it again. Could it really be v30 the problem?
  3. Hopefully the 600 will be better. If you search this forum there are quite a few threads with lots of folks who have issues with the BAR 48. Not packaging issues but reliability and performance issues. Maybe the universe was looking out for you when the shipper broke the BARs and wanted you to have something different. 🙂 Good luck. Let us know your thoughts when you get the 600.
  4. Hi Olivier, This is a Community forum. Those of us posting or answering questions about BAR 48 issues are Klipsch customers, like you. We can't fix anything! If you have registered your product, opened a ticket, and have not yet received a response, I suggest you phone Product Support. You may wait on the phone for an hour but at least you should get a response. Another thing to consider is that you opened your ticket only a month ago. It is not unreasonable to expect a response after a month but to put things into perspective I have had a ticket open for nine months. It was a long time before I got a response and while I have recently been corresponding with Product Support on a pretty regular basis, none of my issues have yet been resolved.
  5. @Fernando Risso If you power off the soundbar then power it on, does the light still flash? You can also try to disconnect it from the power source, wait a minute, then reconnect it. Once you have paired a device you should be able to connect without paring again. Select the Bluetooth source on the soundbar but don't hold the button down to force it to pair and see if your devices will connect. I have noticed when I try to connect to my BAR 48 from my iPhone that it connects for a second then disconnects. I immediately connect a second time and the iPhone stays connected.
  6. @Brassman101 Klipsch Tech Support leaves much to be desired. The first step is to opened a service request and get an SR number. You should get an email response but that could take weeks. Your best bet is to phone but it is not unusual to wait on the line for an hour. Some people have complained that after an hour they get a message saying that no one is available and the line disconnects. It is what it is. I have not heard this training message. You will likely have to wait until it is removed. 😞 I have not tried the TV Remote Programming myself nor has anyone else posted similar issues but I am not surprised to learn there are new issues with some of the more obscure functions. It is not clear exactly what a factory reset does. It doesn't appear to do very much. I believe it will remove existing Bluetooth parings. Did the BAR 48 volume controls work properly before you tried the TV Remote Programming? As an end user, like yourself, I don't have any inside information regarding undocumented functions or procedures so I can only speculate on what may help. Perhaps of you have a different remote you could try to set it up and see if you experience different behavior. The other thing you can do is return it to your retailer for a replacement and hope the new one doesn't have the same issues. I'm sorry I don't have any better suggestions.
  7. Hello everybody. Sorry for my English. I have a newly purchased klipsch bar 48. I am from Argentina. I failed to pair my Samsung s8 or any device via bluetooth. I updated the firmware to the version of 5/15/2020 and it does not link either. The light is still flashing and the s8 says it is paired. The same with a motorola one. That could be happening? Thank you all
  8. @shric Yes, that's been my experience too but it's better than waiting weeks for an email response. Remember that many of the Klipsch staff are working from home. If you have searched the community for "BAR 48" you will see the many issues we are facing. All we can do is be persistent... If you learn anything interesting when speaking with Tech Support, please share with the rest of us.
  9. Thanks for the response. The only setting on the TV audio under "advanced setup" are turn the speakers off/on and the 3 HDMI input types. I also tried connecting the optical output from the Directv box to the Bar 48 optical and couldn't get any sound. Do any of these Klipsch bars ever have bad ports? Thanks again.
  10. @Frode D Thank you for posting this. I had no issues at all installing the first (v23) firmware update but my experience installing the latest (V30) update was was very similar to yours. This is the feedback I provided to Klipsch: For others reading this thread, these are the issues the V30 firmware update purports to resolve. I am very disappointed with these firmware updates. There have been issues getting the firmware installed. Some issues have been user related but others definitely have not. The one-line description of the issues the firmware claims to address are so vague that they are meaningless. After two firmware updates that attempt to increase the sound levels from the Surround 3 speakers the levels are still pathetic. I have reported issues six months ago that these firmware updates haven't begun to address! Let's keep posting our experiences. This appears to be the only way to keep abreast of issues BAR 48 owners are encountering. Not everyone will take the time to open a service request and Klipsch is unwilling to acknowledge let alone discuss issues that have been reported.
  11. Just wanted to share my experience. My Bar 48 got locked as well. I managed to release the power button after 3 of 5 lights turning on (slipped the button). Tried several times to unplug power cord and reconnect the USB and holding the power button again. I could hear something happening but it would not restart. I formatted the USB drive and downloaded the same files again and unzipped to USB drive. After that the software update worked.
  12. One of the recommendations from Tech Support is to return it to the retailer. They don't specifically say for a refund...😒 Of course the retailer doesn't have to accept returns, although that is the policy of some big box stores. The issue is that if you exchange it, the replacement it's definitely going to have all the same firmware defects and because of the many quality control issues that plague this soundbar there is a good chance the replacement may be no better. Please understand I'm not trying to be facetious. If you search these forums for "BAR 48" posts you will see this is exactly what happened to others who opted for a replacement.
  13. If you haven't registered your product and opened a Tech support service request, please do. If they have revised the hardware to resolve any of the reported issues you'll have to do that anyway if you want a warranty exchange. The two firmware updates for the BAR 48 each claim to improve the sound levels from the Surround 3 speakers. I have noticed some improvement when listening to Dolby Digital 5.1 content but the speakers still appear to be dead when listening to mono/stereo content with the ((SUR)) enabled.
  14. @Natste9d The Klipsch soundbars, especially the BAR 48, have had more than their share of issues but it's unfair to suggest the every Klipsch product is similarly affected. Register your new soundbar and be sure to install the latest firmware. Based on comments in these forums by different owners it appears that these soundbars have some major quality control issues. Just because one of your issues has been resolved with your new soundbar doesn't mean there aren't others waiting to be encountered. I have several issues with mine that the latest firmware does not resolve. It's important that we all share our experience with Klipsch technical support: I've asked if there are newer hardware revisions that may resolve some of my issues but I have received no response. You, on the other hand, got a newer model. I get an email every three or four weeks that basically says engineering is working to resolve my issues but they still haven't provided an update. I've been patient but this lack of any commitment to get these issues resolved is no longer acceptable!
  15. Doesn't work. 1st Bar 48 paired fine to the phone but wouldn't pair with the sub woofer. After being bs'ed to by the retailer for 3 weeks, Klipsch told me it was a faulty unit based on the serial number, and replaced it. Now sub pairs fine but can't pair anything other than the tv. Starting to think it just a shit brand
  16. @nova My BAR 48 is still under warranty so I haven't explored any drastic measures. Of course, Klipsch tech support remains mum on the types of issues owners are experiencing let alone the cause. Up until now we have assumed most of our issues are firmware related so I find your post most interesting. I have asked tech support if some of the issues I have reported may be related to hardware defects and if there have been any hardware revisions but so far they have been ignoring me! 😣
  17. @tom974 I'm glad this worked for you. After I installed the update I noticed little difference in the volume from my Surround 3 speakers. Even though we all have a BAR 48, I suspect we may have different hardware revisions. The serial number is only way to know for sure but Klipsch hasn't made that information public.
  18. I bought a Klipsch Bar 48 with surround pack 3 weeks ago in Sydney from harvey Norman. At first the surround speakers volume would not increase. I have downloaded the latest firmware update V30 which helped somewhat but occasionally the surround speakers will have a burst of much louder sound than what they generate at full volume. I now notice that my subwoofer seems to have no power. I've tried it in several different power points but no light at all. Have tried unplugging soundbar and subwoofer power to restart but still no life in the subwoofer. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
  19. I have Samsung UN50MU6070 55 inch smart tv, and got the Klipsch Bar 48 soundbar today which I connect with my tv with HDMI arc. Now the weird part audio and music is working fine, even I can listen to music at Youtube, but when I am trying to play a video at Netflix or Amazon, then I am only getting the audio and very little to no voice. Please help!!
  20. For those reading this thread I thought I'd provide another update... I get an email about once a week to remind me they are still working on the issues I reported. Other than that and the fact that my issues have been forwarded to their technical team, I have had no feedback at all. I haven't even been told that the issues I have reported have been confirmed or if they can be reproduced. I'm very disappointed! In the beginning I was getting an email from Tech Support about once a week, mostly just to acknowledge the latest issue I reported, but absolutely no report on progress at all. On February 26 they reported, "We are working on the issues that you have presented to us." On March 23 they reported, "Our engineering team is still working to resolve the issues you are experiencing." On April 21 I requested another update but received no response. I'll acknowledge that the restrictions put in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic are impacting everyone and are likely contributing to the delay but it is inexcusable that they refuse to discuss any aspect of the issues that have been reported. I purchased my BAR 48 in November 2019. I am now about half way through the warranty. I have asked, "What happens when my warranty expires and these issues still haven't been addressed?" Still I have received no response!
  21. @Badhan I just discovered this post... My BAR 48 is connected to my Samsung TV via the HDMI-ARC connection. I have experienced the same issue. I will also lose audio completely if I skip forward or backward multiple times while watching a program. I have opened a support request with Klipsch tech support but have yet to hear back from them. I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone.
  22. I'm having similar problems. Adjusting inputs on the remote doesn't result in TV sound working though. The only function that works is the bluetooth from my phone, which is not nearly as loud as it should be... I have to crank my phone and soundbar volume unreasonably high. Are the lights on the front and top of your soundbar yellow? I have a Vizio TV and have connected the Bar 48 via HDMI-ARC. Initially, after turning the TV off then back on, the sound does not work and the power to the soundbar doesn't cycle like it used to. All TV settings are correct, so I initially unplugged and replugged in the soundbar. That worked a few times. Now, my TV won't recognize the soundbar at all via CEC. Think it could be a Vizio update that got pushed to the TV? This is crazy...
  23. @Srhigson Please see my response here: Bar 48 fail to power on after firmware update
  24. @Kailey If your soundbar died because of a failed firmware update it usually can be fixed by trying the update again: https://www.klipsch.ca/firmware These are the instructions for the BAR 48. If you still can't install the firmware, your device may be defective. Either return it or open a Support Request with Klipsch tech support.
  25. Can I still do the firmware update for the bar 48 if I have already paired the surround 3 speakers? I didn’t know anything about the firmware update.
