  1. I have a 2 year old Bar 48 sound bar. The other day it just stopped working, we haven't changed anything with our home setup. It's connected to the TV via optical cable. When we power on the soundbar the status lights will come on initially, then starts flickering and goes out, sound never comes on, it seems the power is still on as we can adjust the volume and when powering off then on again it keeps the same power level, but again no sound comes through The subwoofer light starts flashing blue like it's waiting for a signal from the soundbar but nothing happens. I did try to swap out the optical cable but that didn't fix it, so it seems it's not that and the bar itself has an issue. Anyone experience anything like this before? I've submitted a support ticket (#284599) about a week ago but haven't heard back yet. Also tried calling in the support number but can't seem to get through and get put on hold indefinitely before I have to give up and carry on with my day. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
  2. I have the bar 48 with Surround 3 Speakers. One of my rear speakers (I have it set to the right channel) makes a scratching noise that lasts about 1 second, but only it only happens every few hours. It happens suddenly and complete out of the blue. Has anyone else ever experienced a similar issue? I haven't tried any trouble shooting yet like swapping channels with the left speaker and seeing if the speak does the same thing on the other channel, or re-syncing the bluetooth. It'll be hard to trouble shoot so it's very unpredictable. Is it possible I have 1 defective speaker?
  3. I recently bought a Bar 48 3.1 sound bar. I have it connected through HDMI ARC. Sounds great, just having subwoofer problems. From when I first set it up, I had to unplug the subwoofer and plug it back in to reconnect it. And every time I turn my tv on, everything comes on, but no sound out of the subwoofer. I try a reconnect (using pair buttons), and nothing. It always comes down to unplugging the subwoofer and reconnecting after that. Anybody else have this problem, and hopefully a fix for the problem? Also, I did not do a firmware update. I’ve seen so many posts about the firmware update failing, I would rather wait that out.
  4. My suggestion would be to return it to wherever you bought it, if it's not too late. The BAR series had (has?) lots of reliability issues. Your Surround 3's will work with the newer Cinema series 600, 700, & 800. While these soundbars have also had their issues most have now been resolved. They are a big improvement over the BAR series. What's more, the price of these soundbars has recently been reduced significantly. The Cinema 700/800 would be a replacement for the BAR 48.
  5. Update 20 January 2020. Ignore this post. Two of the three BAR 48 soundbars I received failed to pair with Bluetooth. I returned them all and am now a happy owner of a competing brand. ***** Original post. Several posts have been about Bluetooth problems on the BAR 48. Due to a different problem, I now have my 2nd BAR 48 and it seemed like BT pairing was hit and miss on both of them, but I've found a procedure that works well for me to pair to my Windows 10 laptop and Android smartphone. Basically, BT must be the source when you power off, then on, then BT will be the first source when the BAR 48 is powered up and pairing must be the first thing you do. After that, connecting to the paired device should be as normal as any BT device. Procedure: 1. Set the Bar 48 source to Bluetooth. Blue LED will blink slowly to tell you nothing is connected. 2. Power off by holding down the Power button for 5 secs. Then unplug the power cord. 3. Wait 10 secs, plug power cord in. Wait 10 secs. Press Power on for 5 secs to turn on the BAR 48. Source should (MUST) be Bluetooth (blue LED blinking slowly). 4. Have your device ready to pair (for me, Windows 10 or my Android smartphone). 5. On the BAR 48 remote, press the BT button for 3 seconds, then the blue LED should blink more quickly on the BAR 48, indicating it is ready to pair. 6. On your device, pair to "Klipsch Bar 48". Try it and let us know how it works for you.
  6. Just wanted to thank all the members that provided the information to fix the BAR48. The BAR 48 had no LED lights or sound but somehow connected to the rear speakers and subwoofer. I received the power supply from Amazon on THU and had the sound bar working FRI night. A $15 dollar fix saved me some cold hard cash. Thanks again.
  7. I have a Bar 48 with a bluetooth woofer. Last night all worked normally. Today sound bar will not power up. No LEDs show. Soundbar seems dead. Woofer seem to be working but cannot connect to bar. Other devices connected to surge protector are working normally. Anybody got ideas except soundbar unit is dead? Thanks in advance!
  8. Thanks to everyone here for detailed instructions and pictures. I was able to revive my Cinema 600!!! I know this is the "Bar 48 No-Power Repair Thread" but there was a lot of information about fixing the Cinema 600 as well and everything worked out perfectly! Thanks again to all who contributed to this thread!
  9. Hi, my Klipsch Bar 48 fail to power on after the new firmware update. Totally no power even after changing power cable and wall socket. I am trying to update it with the new firmware following to the instruction provided, there were no response when I plug in the USB, hold the power button while connection the power cable. Afterwhich, the sounder fails to power up. Does anyone having the same issue?
  10. I just recently got the Bar 48. I have the HDMI (Arc) from my TV going into the soundbar. Numerous times the audio would just go out, and I'd have to fiddle around with the inputs on the remote to get the sound back. I'm not sure why this is happening. When I switched to the optical cable, everything seems fine, but then I lose the benefits of the HDMI Arc. Has anyone encountered this issue?
  11. I’ve got cracking in my wireless Surround 3 speakers connected to my Bar 48. It’s intermittently R or L or both at once & seems to come when I’m switching a channel or source. Switching surround mode off eliminates it until I turn surround mode back on, however unplugging the surround speaker seems to reset it resulting in no crackling. At first I thought it was cable related, but occurs with both comcast and ATV, then I thought it was related to using the dialogue mode, but that wasn’t it either. Looks like other folks have the same problem on the forum but I don’t see any answers there. I’m wondering if the issue is WiFi related and unplugging the surround speaker resets it’s little WiFi chip or settings? I don’t have to re-pair the unit to the Bar 48 after repowering the unit which makes me thing it’s not resetting to a default mode…any suggestions on preventing this intermittent crackling?
  12. I’m a bit of a home audio noob, but I currently have a 5.1 setup in my home. Moving in January to a new house without existing wiring for 5.1, so considering the Bar 48, but curious if I can utilize this setup with my current Yamaha receiver, or if I can/need to forgo the receiver and just hook up the bar directly to the TV. Thanks!
  13. I was provided a Cinema 600 warranty replacement for my BAR 48 which had a multitude of issues. The BAR 48 was supposed to support Dolby Digital Plus which can provide CD quality audio but it never worked. I was never able to get Dolby Digital Plus working with my Cinema 600 then Klipsch admitted that the Cinema 600 doesn't support Dolby Digital Plus so the replacement didn't provide the same features that the BAR 48 was supposed to provide. Before I could discuss the matter with Klipsch, the Cinema 600 dropped dead! Long story short, I now have a Cinema 800 and still using the same Surround 3s that I purchased with my BAR 48. Most of My BAR 48 issues appear to have been resolved in the Cinema 600 and now my Cinema 800 supports Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby Atmos. The Cinema 800 is everything the BAR 48 should have been! The Cinema 800 has had its issues, most of which have been firmware related. Klipsch has just provided me with their latest firmware update which looks very promising. While the crackling sound you hear may be due to an issue with the Surround 3s, some customers have reported that issue has been resolved with the latest firmware update to their Cinema 800 soundbar which will also update the firmware in the Surround 3s. I understand your issues trying to get a warranty exchange on your Cinema 600. Klipsch may be more sympathetic if you explain that you had a BAR 48 with many issues, that you purchased the Cinema 600 as a replacement and didn't seek a warranty replacement on your BAR 48. You may still be able to return your new Cinema 600 to Best Buy and wrangle a Cinema 800 as a replacement from Klipsch, if you are lucky. Let us know what transpires.
  14. Hoping to get some feedback / recommendations for the best Klipsch soundbar to go with between the Cinema 600 vs the Bar 48? Anyone tried these that can give some thoughts and impressions between the two? They both cost $499 each. I'm not really sold on "wireless" vs hardwired. And front firing would be better for the sub. But, unfortunately, the soundbars all come with down firing subs. Plus, I live in an upstairs apartment with a woman in her 60's below me. Her living room is right below mine. So, I'm not sure if a soundbar is gonna be the best option for my living situation or maybe another set-up such as either satellites or bookshelf speakers with a front firing sub. What do you guys think?
  15. Hey everyone. First time posting here. I have a Bar 48 Soundbar and a Toshiba Fire TV and I'm having a problem connecting the audio with the provided HDMI cable. It's not working. The sound is great and works fine with the optical cable but nothing with the HDMI. Am I missing something? I've searched all over for answers on this. Is there some trick I'm missing? Any help would be great. Thanks.
  16. I have ordered the sound bar twice, both times it has came broke in half in the same spot. For whatever reason in the packaging instead of using styrofoam in the middle of the box to support the sound bar there is nothing. Just free space... So I'm wondering if they have changed this with the cinema 600? I really want to have this on my tvs in my new house. But not if they are gonna all be broken. So does anyone know if the new 600s are packed in styrofoam front to back?
  17. Wow , good work sixerfixer, my bar 48 lasted 3 years , I followed your instructions, worked perfectly. Its sad that Klipsch doesnt have entry level assemblers here in US to install these $15 parts on out of warranty units for a service charge. They even continued with the etop power on their newer 600 , then expect you to landfill it and buy more .
  18. What is the difference between the bar 48 and Cinema 600 besides the subwoofer ? is the sound bar using the same speakers and amp wattage ?
  19. Not sure what the heck is going on! 😞 ... Device was actually fine but Surround speakers were failing to be paired. Followed Klipsch instructions and went ahead to install Firmware Update. I followed firmware update instructions as is but it never gets installed successfully. All LEDs do not glow at all during the update process, instead, just the HDMI LED glows Orange with Speaker Volume LEDs at level three which should actually happen after ALL LEDs glow. After power OFF and turn ON again, remote functionality will work only for UP or DOWN buttons or SURROUND button (holding down for a few seconds). UP or DOWN buttons actually turn ON LEDs one after the other in line. Weird! Am I missing anything in FW update process? Any help will be greatly appreciated! 20. Hi all, Has anyone encountered any problem connecting their Bar 48 with a Sony Bravia XBR tv VIA hdmi? HDMI port 3 for Sony is the ARC port but get no play back. Have tried changing the inputs to the bar with no luck. Playback VIA Bluetooth works so speaker is operational. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Take care, Jag
  21. Two weeks ago I purchased a new 2019 Samsung Q70R TV and the Klipsch BAR 48 with Surround 3 speakers. Both devices claim to support Dolby Digital Plus. The soundbar is connected to the TV via HDMI-4 which is the HDMI (ARC) connection. The TV recognizes the BAR 48 and the TV sound settings allow me to choose "Receiver HDMI" to direct sound output to the soundbar. The TV also has "Expert Settings" where I can specify the Audio Output Format. The default format is "PCM" but if the source uses Dolby Digital I have the option of selecting "Dolby Digital" or "Dolby Digital+". When I choose Dolby Digital I can hear surround sound (more on this below). When I choose Dolby Digital+ the sound stops and the soundbar goes comatose. Selecting Dolby Digital does not restore the sound. To get things working again I must: Remove power from the soundbar. Disconnect the HDMI cable. Restore power to the soundbar and turn it on. Reconnect the HDMI cable and allow the TV to rediscover the device. The latest BAR 48 firmware Version: v83 v23 Released: 12/13/2019 does not resolve this issue. So why is Dolby Digital Plus important to me? Dolby Digital uses a lossy compression algorithm and supports a maximum bitrate of 640 Kbps. Dolby Digital Plus also uses a lossy compression algorithm but one that is much more efficient. It supports a maximum bitrate of 6 Mbps and can provide almost CD quality audio. Dolby Digital does not imply surround sound: It supports 1, 2, 4, and 5.1 discreet channels over HDMI or digital (optical) connections. Dolby Digital Plus supports 8-channel (7.1) audio and can down-mix side and rear channels to create 5.1 surround sound when equipment doesn't support 7.1. Dolby Digital + requires an HDMI connection. To experience surround sound from the Bar 48, several conditions must be met. The User Manual, of course, explains none of this. The Surround 3 speakers have to be connected and working and the volume has to be at a sufficient level to hear them. The Surround 3 speaker volume can be adjusted but the manual included with my soundbar doesn't explain how to do this. Even when the volume of both Surround 3 speakers is at maximum, sound from the speakers is barely audible. Firmware v83 v23 does help considerably. The ((SUR)) indicator on the Bar 48 must be on, indicating that sound is being directed to all the appropriate speakers. The Dolby Digital indicator on the Bar 48 must be on, indicating that multi-channel audio might be delivered to the device. The audio content must contain audio assigned to all the appropriate channels in order to experience surround sound. I have a case opened with Samsung for this issue but before they will escalate it they want proof that the fault does not lie with the soundbar. Is anybody using a Dolby Digital Plus source with the BAR 48 and, if so, are you experiencing any issues? If it is working as it should, would you care to share the make and model of the device you are using?
  22. Wanted to say thanks to everyone on this thread who provided great info. I was able to use the Amazon link provided and get the part up here in Canada and with the various posts here and pictures, get my Bar 48 up and running again. Mine died after 3.5 years so seems I may have actually done pretty well. Oddly though about a year in, the LEDs started to flicker so I wonder if that was the beginning of the end. Before I found this thread, I tried a couple of different sound bars as a replacement and kept sending them back as the Bar 48 just sounded so good. I ended up ordering the Cinema 600 and it's actually a bit of an upgrade in sound, and wow the sub is much bigger. That said, I had another TV I needed a sound bar for, so the 48 will be put back into service (and one less thing in the land fill!). Also nice to know if it dies it'll be the same procedure for the new one as well (I did buy an extended warranty this time!)
  23. I just received a new Bar 48 and I need to use the optical connection, not having an HDMI ARC port on my tv. I cannot get any sound out of the bar through this connection. I paired it to my iPhone and I can play music just fine. I have attempted a firmware update but it will not work the way the instructions indicate. Any help would be appreciated. I have opened a ticket with support, FYI. Have not heard anything back yet. Very disappointed in the response from customer service. I use the optical connection out of my Panasonic plasma to my surround system and it works fine. I have also tried the HDMI out of my Directv receiver and got nothing there as well. Bad ports maybe?

    Bar 54A

Hello I have a question if anyone knows much about the new bar 54a coming out? First eARC ? That is a biggie, then I've been reading about the Bar 48 how you can use a 2nd Klipsch subwoofer any ideas if this will carry over to the Bar 54a? Finally third I would love to be able to use the threes surrounds that go with the Bar 48 as a 2nd pair of surrounds with 54a so out of the box 5.1.4 but possible to upgrade to 7.2.4 any chance of this? Any facts or opinions welcome.
