QUiKSR20
I see alot of people with PC's Next to there home theaters and also I have seen it in peoples signatures. HTPC etc what do you guys use these for in the home theater? Is it to use the DVD or for just playing on the computer on the big screen and nice stereo? Just figured I would get my best answer by making a post... ------------------ Thanks, Daryl Gregg MY Home Theatre Page Sony STR-DE975 HT Reciever Sony DVP-NS400D DVD SB-3 Mains SC-1 Center Quintet Rears KSW-12 Sub AR Proseries Interconects

Steve Phillips
It is easy to software upgrade an HTPC as compared to upgrading a line doubler when doing a front projector.Get a small NEC LT150 presentation projector and hook it to an HTPC and what you can do to the picture is unbelievable to say the least.Everything you do to the picture is controled by software. You can use it's hard drive to record to. www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/ You can find out all you want to know about an HTPC there.

wife-said-no
Another thought. My Dad doesn't have the home theater but he has his house wired to his PC. He can controll all the lights, the various fishtanks, climate control as well as the TV and DVD player. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? sseymour
A lot of HDTVs have a VGA input, allowing for a direct connection from the HTPC. I am just getting started here, but it is my understanding that you can get 540p on most HDTVs. And some can go to 740p and 1440i. Progressive scan DVD players are still at 480p. So basically, the reason I'm trying is, better picture. out -Scott ------------------ KG-4 Fronts RC-3 Center Infinity Reference 1 Surrounds Sony DB830 This message has been edited by sseymour on 02-06-2002 at 02:59 PM
Hipnotic_Tranz
I have ~20 movies I've downloaded onto my computer and I use my Live! Drive w/remote to access them from my coutch. So it's basically a complicated VCR. And then I can do the same with MP3's, so now it's a jutebox. Then I can run T.V. out to my T.V so now it's a DVD player. Then I can do the same and play games--now it's like a console. Or I can surf the net, now it's a PC Basically I've made my PC a component in my HT system. Its almost as required as the reciever
justin_tx_16
i did this too. i have my computer hooked to the cable, then it goes out to the TV, that way i can digitally record, change station, get live tv guide listings that you can scroll through (without paying for another decoder box) listen to my mp3's and watch the vis.s on 46 inches, watch dvd's and play solitare this setup is pretty nice for me. i also have a regular dvd hooked up to it the DVP-NS700p. i use my KeySpan DIgital remote control to control it, you might want to get this, for only 40 bucks, it is a steal and can do SO much! ------------------ -justin I am an amateur, if it is professional; ProMedia help you want email Amy or call her @ 1-888-554-5665 or for an RA# 1-888-554-5665 Klipsch Home Audio help you want, email support@klipsch.com or call @ 1-800-KLIPSCH RA# Fax Number=317-860-9140 / Parts Department Fax Number=317-860-9150 ProMedia 5.1 Placement Help s>
