soulman
I have the RF7, RC7, and RS7 setup cuurently. I want to upgrade to the HDMI switching and all the new HD sound format decodings. I currenly use the Pioneer Elite 56TXI, and am thinking about the Pioneer SC-05 with the ICE amps. Anyone tried them? Good match for the RF7 and especially movie watching? I can also demo the Onkyo 876 locally at Onecall.com as well as the Marantz stuff like the 7003. Can't pick up the SC05, unless I want to pay retail price at Onecall. One other possiblity is the Yamaha line, which also Onecall sells. I haven't use them in many years, back when I thought they were too "bright". So many choices. Thanks for any help. VGREEN
Take a look at the Pioneer VSX-1018. I replaced my VSX-56TXi with this receiver and couldn't be happier.
Kain
I'd wait for the new Harman Kardon AVR 7550HD. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/115583.aspx
White_Hawk
And I would spend that same amount of money on an xpa-5, xpa-2 and xmc-1 from emotiva =)
BerserkNitro
I'd wait for the new Harman Kardon AVR 7550HD. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/115583.aspx For that kind of money i would buy separates......Just my 2 cents..
soulman
The Emotiva gear looks like a great idea, but the UMC-1 isn't released yet, wouldn't want the XMC-1. any idea when? Also, the HK 7550HD isn't scheduled to be released until June 09, it's been delayed. Bummer on both accounts. Scott
Kain
I agree I would get separates too but the original poster stated that he wanted an A/V receiver and I assumed that he didn't want to deal with the "extra work" required for dealing with separates. nezff
I would say the onkyo 876. That is the one I have been looking at. Its under $1000
soulman
It's not so much the extra work that deters me from separates, but the lack of a modern (HD sound decoding and room accoustics correction like Audessey) pre/pro and $$$. My budget will be less than $1500 max, more like about $1000. Thank you for the recommendations so far. BTW- my other components are a 52" Sharp Aquos LCD (64U) and a Samsung BP-1200 Blu Ray. nezff
I paid $997 for my Pioneer Elite VSX-91TXH and Emotiva XPA-3. If you do go seperates, I would get yourself and nice but cheap receiver with preouts and get you a XPA-5 or XPA-3.
DU73
i like the seperates idea also - altho you will be spending that bit extra now it could save you alot of money down the road when you want to up or down grade you pre or amp.,,
soulman
It seems like the "wise" move is to wait for the release of the Emotiva UMC-1 pre/pro and get the XPA-5. Save some $$$ until then. But the Pioneer Elite SC-05 has me intrigued, as I have been pretty happy with my old Elite. Anybody have the new Elite line with the Refernce series? Are they a good match?
