substance-p
Today was the day I finally plugged all the components into the newsystem and fired it up. It was a little anticlimactic when the HTPC(which is my HD DVD/Blu Ray player) threw me some curve balls.I was firing up the computer for the first time as well as getting thenew TV setup and running everything through my Yamaha 663. I was able to get everything working through the 663 except for thecomputer (not showing up on the TV when the TV and receiver were on theappropriate input for the computer). I then got the computer workingand using the TV as a monitor if I connected the HDMI directly from the computer to the TV and bypass the receiver.Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing the problem. Iknow it is not the HDMI cables as they work when directly connected tothe TV. I know its not the HDMI in on the receiver as the Uverse box worked in both of the HDMI ins and the computer did not work in either.
jdotsu
What video card is your HTPC using?
substance-p
Intel ® G45/G43 Express Chipset with Intel Graphics Meida Accelerator Driver
toddvj
What resolution do you have your HTPC set at? It looks like the Yamaha 663 Upconverts the video, but it might not be recognizing the resolution that is being output from the HTPC. Just a thought. On another note, are you sending sound to the receiver seperately, or are you using HDMI? Does the Intel G45/G43 actually have HDMI, or are you using an adapter? jdotsu
I would not recommend using Intel graphics to connect your pc to your tv via hdmi. If you can get yourself an ati 4550 pci express video card one can be bought from newegg.com for around 50 dollars shipped and it will handle all of the decoding of the HD video for you plus supports 7.1 sound output through the hdmi as well. substance-p
The only way I could get to work through the receiver was through the use of the dvi cable out of the PC instead of the hdmi out and the use a dvi/hdmi adapater to go into one of the hdmi ins on the yamaha (this would only allow low resolution). I have ordered a different video card and will try it tomorrow....wish me luck
Cal Blacksmith
Sounds like a copy protection problem with theHDMI cable. I seem to remember that you are only able to get low res from the HDMI input, that came from the dim recesses of my ocasionally feeble mind, check it out though. Edgar
I have ordered a different video card and will try it tomorrow....wish me luck If you will be using one of the ATI Radeon 4x50 cards, then you'll need Realtek HDMI Audio drivers. For Vista, download here (under "Software"); for XP download herehttp://game.amd.com/us-en.
