JohnA
$500 is a great price! The Crossover sucks, but you can make your own easily enough. These looked similar, with a big chip out of the point of the doghouse. I paid $950 for my unfinished pair in January 1999.
JohnA
I paid someone to finish mine because I wanted better work than I thought I could do and I could afford the $500 for him to do it. The finish is Min-Wax red maghogany under satin polyurethane. You can do it yourself with care matching the filler and using conditioner before the stain. Below is the edge treatment we did. It is 3/4" x 3/4" cherry, but 3/4 x 1/4 birch would work, too.
