tidmack
Hi Everyone, I've had a Mac 2105 and MX 113 combo for about 10 years and have been pleased with the sound. I have a spare 2100 amp and pair of Cornwalls that really need to be used more often, so I thought I'd put together a 2nd system. The MX 113 has received mediocre reviews here over the years, so I'm asking for opinions for other Mac preamp/tuner combos that won't break the bank. I haven't had a chance to hear a lot of other Mac preamps, so I'm not sure what I'm missing with my existing 113! I'd prefer to stick with SS, as tubes are a little out of my price range.Thanks- Jeff
RT FAN
I'd wander over to Audiokarma's McIntosh forum if I was you. The fanatics over there would certainly steer you in the right direction. good luck with your search.

seti
I'd save my pennies for a tube preamp. Does it have to be a MC? Shop audiogon and look at the tube preamps for sale there. A tube frontend to the early MC SS is killer. That is the route I will be going soon.
