oddio-guy
Greetings, all, My new Jolida 502 begs for a good cd player. Which players would mate well with classical music and Heresys?

mike stehr
Do these units have a fixed and variable output?
SOUNDJUNKIE
Have the CDV-PRO but these sound REALLY nice too driven directly into the amp!!! search-completed.ebay.com/search/search.dll?ht=1&query=dynaco+cdv&SortP roperty=MetaNewSort
edster00
Mike, The Ah! Njoeb Tjoeb only have fixed outputs. Limits their ability to "plug 'n play" directly into an amp unless the amp is integrated. ------------------ 2 Channel System: '78 Khorns w/ALK networks Welborne Labs Moondog 2A3 amps AES AE-3 Superpreamp DJH mods McIntosh MCD 7007 CD McIntosh MR-78 Tuner DIYCable Twisted Cross Connects DIYCable Superlatives (preamp/amp) DH Labs Silver Pulse interconnects (sources/preamp) f> s>
mike stehr
I would love too hear the Heart 6000 and the AH! Njoeb Toejb 4000 in shootout with my stereo. Both are excellent units for the money. Though the Heart is more, I like the design, No OPamps. But that's IMO. The newer AH! 4000 sure went hog wild on capacitance. Is the AH! design have the Tubes in series with the Opamps? It seems like the tubes are in series like this Carver CD player of mine. I've been listening to a Samsumg 709 for a year or so, 2 months ago I recapped it(Bobwire tweak). Sounds pretty good. Out of boredom I decided to break out my Carver sd/a 490T that I have had for 5 years.(made in Feb '91) I shelved it after I got the Samsung. Last year on the Carver I did some cap upgrades and put HEXFREDS in the power supply for the transport, etc... All stemming from a bad Regulator, which I replaced. It cured it's slow tracking problems bigtime. A week ago I put new Opamps in the output circuit replacing all the JRC ancient obsolete Slopamps. 2134,2132,(Free samples from TI) and a couple of AD OP275's. Hooked it up, ready for Digital grit. It wasn't bad, better than that Samsung. No shrill, and the Chorus II's seemed to mellow out a bit. It has a quiet Transport, also I have dumped the volume/headphone circuit which includes the variable out. The Samsung 709 is now in a drawer. I ordered some JAN 6922 tubes for this tank, but I dought if I will notice any difference from the EI 6DJ8's. I never seem to find the point of diminishing returns with this unit, it always gives a little more. Time to order more audio grade caps. Then again, I could be bullshitting myself again. Sorry about the droning post, I/V DAC conversion with trannys and tubes fascinates me. THANX!
Weiming
I have never heard this CD player before so I cannot comment on its performance with regards to classical music, but it really looks good and it has a tubed output stage. http://www.shanling.com/html/CD-T100e.htm This message has been edited by Weiming on 03-01-2002 at 10:47 AM
mobile homeless
From my experience, the variable outputs on most CD players, especially the Marantz models, are rather subpar. I found you get better sound bypassing the variable outs and going with the fixed out to a quality preamp, even given the extra parts aspect. The variable outs on most CDP are really cheap. IF you DO have to use them, leave them at FULL to have the least impact. kh
mike stehr
That Shanling looks awesome, no dought about it. The looks would fit with other Tube gear nicely for that Classic look, not the boring black box. I think it was a excellent price as well. The Heart 6000 ditches the Volume control on the unit. (I think.) I tossed the whole volume circuit on Ol' Bob, board, pot, all of it. It's just fixed now!
SOUNDJUNKIE
Yes they DO, but might want the potted trannies sitting atop the sheetmetal. The fit-n-finish looks abit better that way, I THINK?
