Cornwall issue

Recommended Posts

Got a pair of 79 Corns the other day. They're great, aside from this: the right channel does not output highs at low volumes. It will work after I turn it up a bit, and will continue to work at low volumes thereafter, but I would like to know what the experts think.

I had the exact same thing happen with a pair of '80 Heresies I picked up. No Mid/High on one until I turned it up, no problems since.

As Russ mentioned, switch the speaker wire and see what happens but it might be the amp.

How tight should the screws be?

With them being the age they are the wire could come lose over time. All you want is to hand tight them but make sure you have a good contact, your first reason for checking.

Could be a diaphram issue with the K-77? Do you have the round or square magnet?

If it's the old Alinco (round magnet, you should go to Bob Crites website and check out the instructions on replacing the diaphrams. You may have a bit of gunk in the magnet groove or a bent edge on the diaphram that loosens up with more signal or after it warms up.

Just be careful when reinstalling the magnet or you will be calling Bob for new diaphrams!
