It will work after I turn it up a bit, and will continue to work at low volumes thereafter, but I would like to know what the experts think. I had the exact same thing happen with a pair of '80 Heresies I picked up. No Mid/High on one until I turned it up, no problems since. jamesV Posted October 12, 2009 Share Posted October 12, 2009 As Russ mentioned, switch the speaker wire and see what happens but it might be the amp. How tight should the screws be? With them being the age they are the wire could come lose over time. All you want is to hand tight them but make sure you have a good contact, your first reason for checking. hklinker Posted October 14, 2009 Share Posted October 14, 2009 Could be a diaphram issue with the K-77? Do you have the round or square magnet? If it's the old Alinco (round magnet, you should go to Bob Crites website and check out the instructions on replacing the diaphrams. You may have a bit of gunk in the magnet groove or a bent edge on the diaphram that loosens up with more signal or after it warms up.
