Jacob is but one of the famous Bernoullis and is the uncle of Daniel who's Principle makes possible the design of several of my favorite distractions (airplanes and carburators). The book which had that squib mentioned that Jacob and his brother Johann would bicker over which one of them was the greatest mathematician. It was Johann who was the father of Daniel.
