oldmako
http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=190347456410Not sure why these commanded such a high price. $1250!
Daddy Dee
They are "refurbished". Think I've seen "new" sell for less online. Just bidding getting out of hand. At that price, still good sound.
Cal Blacksmith
Looking at the bid history, it was a bidding war between noobs. The bidders that have been around Ebay for a while were all out before $550. I would bet that likely as not is a no sale, buyer backing out deal before it is all over. edit; I will correct myself, one older bidder hung in there until $942, after that it was all a bidding war (most all of the bidding before that also!) oldmako
They either don't know something I do, or just the opposite I suppose. Maybe they each have a kilo of reefer in them? Just a thought. My brother and I have been fairly aggressive the last two years on CL and have stolen 2 pair of Fortes, one pair Chorus IIs, kg4s, kg 5.2s, kg2s, CF3s etc etc etc. Most of them have been in excellent condition and within an hours drive. The hardest part is coming up with suitable equipment to drive them!
djk
A while back a pair of HBR that I sold new for about $500 in the late '70s went for $1500. They did have the original box, packing, and still-attached warranty cards.
Groomlakearea51
If that chip is almost undetectable as decribed, then as they have the warranty (sold by Klipsch), not too bad of a deal. New H-III's have, however, gone cheaper lately IIR.
