osmosis600
ok so i bought a new f-1 system hooked it all up to my yamaha reciv. and after a couple of songs/movies i could hear that one of my rear speakers sounded less vibrant and the bass not as strong as the other one. after some tweaks on the recv. i managed to get it to sound as good as the other one by turning up the "SP" level all the way to the max.once i do this they sound identicle. my question is. Is this a bad thing? am i hurting the speaker by turning the SP level all the way up ? should i send it in? oh by the way im a noob things i did: i changed out the cable, swicth channels on the recv. on a side note the "good" speaker "sp" level is set to default. thats why im concerned. Shouldnt they both sound just as good on the same "SP" level?
wuzzzer
Check the wires to that speaker to make sure the + and - haven't been reversed. That will cause the problem you're describing.
Moderators dtel Posted November 18, 2009 Moderators Share Posted November 18, 2009 The best way to get everything adjusted is to use a Radio shack db meter. Play the test tones in you receiver and adjust all the speakers to the same volume from you listening position. If one speaker shows it needs much more to play the same volume you have a problem. Check the wires first like Wuzzer said and if that don't fix it switch that speaker with the other rear speaker. If the volume is still low on that channel it's the receiver if the problem switches with with the speaker it's the speaker.

osmosis600
So i switched to cables, still the same problem. I switched the speakers and the weak one still sounds weak ( unless i turn it up in SP level) So is this should be covered under warranty right? Moderators dtel Posted November 19, 2009 Moderators Share Posted November 19, 2009 I would think so, call where you bought them, they may have another in stock and just switch it out, if they won't help call Klipsch.
DU73
i just read this thread.. i wonder how this one went.. another suggestion would be to swap surround speakers re the one on the left put to the right and visa versa, if this fixes the problem at that position then you would know it is the speaker, if it doesnt fix then you would know it is either the cable, the wiring or the setting on avr. let us know how you went edit - i just read that you had alreadt tried this and the weak one still sounded weak..
