Yamaha Revceiver RX-V665

Getting excited for Xmas. Newbie needs some advice. First some background.

I have a 10 year Onyko preamp and amp driving a pair of Bose 901's. Sounds grreat but moving towards a HT. I have a Samsung 55 LED and currently using the stereo via RCA out plugs to provide some depth sound rather than the LED speakers.

Bought a Klipsch sub 10 off of craigslist for $100 but have not been able to hook it up (see previous posts) due to Onyko only has one pre-out and that is going to the Bose equalizer that drives the 901s.

For Xmas, i bought a Yamaha RX-V655 and I am looking for some suggestions on speakers. I looked at the Quintet III for $200 or the Quintent SL for $400. Not sure what the differnce is and if the price differnce is worth it. Thoughts? As you can see from the diagrams attached, space is an issue with the HT room being in a finshed attic that measures 8 X 14.

I am open to other speaker options but clueless. A consultant suggested B & W 685s and a B & W CWM6160 but they seem expensive for what you get. In the interim, I plan on using the Onyko to drive the 901's and the Yamaha to drive the Sub woofer. Good thought or bad? . Really don't want to spend more than $1000 on front, rear, center and back center speakers. Suggestions welcomed.

From what I can see, your limitations are in the width of your room. With that said, your average floorstander is probably out of the question. As far as the QIII's and the SL's, you will get a little more depth and volume from the SL's. Where are you located? Maybe us on the forum can better help you in your search.

How would you integrate the Yamaha with the Onkyo?

I am not sure where you live but here is a medium sized floorstander from the Reference III lineup.

Match this up with an RC-25 or RC-52 and a pair of RS-25 or RS-42 surrounds and you will come in under $1000.00.

Thanks for your thoughts and reply. That is what I thought about the quintents but patience is a hard thing when your old! I did hear them at Bestbuy. Not great but not bad. The center did not sound real clear even with my bad ears. Maybe what I should do is get the center speaker first, then the fronts, then the rears then the center rear. I hate cash flow isssues [li].
