Rivernuggets
Purchased for $175. Serial # 51S957 & 8. Puts it at '78 right? I can post more pictures soon. They don't have grilles or any evidence of having them. Any thoughts on this? Finally I'll be able to hear the Heresy sound (in an as/is condition) -- I've read so much about them here. Gotta do a few things first, THEN I can listen.
The Dude
Congrats and a good buy at that. Someone else may chime in and correct me but they might be decors. duder
MechMan
For sure decorators, and with the nice laser badges as well. I still miss my LITTLE guys every now and then. Nice buy at that price.
HudsonValleyNoah
You did GREAT. Does it say HD-BR or HD-BL on the back? I have never seen a HD-BL but if there ever was one it would look like that. Take a picture of the label on the back. Heresy Decorator model for sure - NICE! neo33
Congratulation and welcome to the world of Heritage. Beware that now you may never go back! Your Heresies are Decorators.
Rivernuggets
Hope these pictures post well. So the Decorators didn't have grilles - very cool. They look rough and I'm not sure about veneering over what is there. Would it be sacrilege veneering over the birch? Noah, there isn't a label on the backs saying HD-BR or HD-BL. In addition to the serial numbers on the back, there is 'OD' and 'USA' stamped along the vertical backsides of both speakers. The seller said they were birch poly, but looking them up they only came in birch raw or laquer. They feel laquered - or maybe 32 years of wear on raw wood gives this 'laquer' feel, heh. The chips/dents are lighter in color, so it must be laquer.

HudsonValleyNoah
It's not heresy to venerer Heresy Birch Decorators - Check this torn up pair... Forum member Bliss53 veneered them in Teak for me... The pair when done...
Rivernuggets
Very nice Noah! That Teak is a very different and elegant look. Please post a picture with them assembled and ready to rock. That's all the stamp of approval I need to repair and veneer mine. Won't happen too soon. Have to wait a bit for the wallet to expand (they do that on their own, don'tcha know). I've never looked for veneer of this size before. Can I ask you and others here where I can find some veneer of different kinds? There is a place close to me, Woodcraft, who have veneer in large rolls with heat-activated adhesive on one side. I'll go and see if their dimensions will work. Should I also check Ebay? clermontcop
Very nice looking pair of Heresy's, sort of look like one of the pair I just got. 1978 HDRB.
clermontcop
I have been working on this pair of heresy's, this is not how I wanted them to come out, but I still have alot of work to do. This is what they looked like when I got them.
clermontcop
The problem I ran into with my pair was the issue with the glue, and though I got most of the glue off the glue had permanetly seeped into the raw wood. I tried some light sanding and a little bit of heavy sanding. Ultimately when I am done with them they will be reborn into a beauty.
