theluggman
I am new here just aquired a pair of 89 Khorns and I am building a music server and would like some comparisons of some dacs. Does anyone have any input, it would be greatly appreciated. By the way these khorns sounded great then I checked both sides seperatly and go figure the left channel had the bass bin fuse MISSING! I just doubled my bass output! by putting in a 2 amp fuse the past owner wasn't too impressed with the bass output 'wonder why'!!

Mallette
Depends on whether you want performance or prestige. Even the current Intel HD DACS in laptops, the Asus Zonar, or the Via Vinyls offer performance that is, at least to my ears, close enough to perfection as to leave other things far more audible than the digital to analog conversion process. I am assuming you are looking for an outboard standalone, however. There are a lot of fine ones. Just don't get $$$$ in your eyes as having anything to do with audible performance. The DAC algorithms are pretty well understood by now and quite rigid. Anything over a couple of hundred bucks is going into prestige, though it won't impress the likes of me. Happy hunting.
