MNWild
I’m new here to the forum and want to thank everyone in advance for their help with my upgrade. It’s finally time to update my system, I purchased a Panasonic ST30 series Plasma two weeks ago and now want to go surround. I have a pair of Heresy II’s purchased new in the late 80’s I plan to use for the front speakers. I would like recommendations for center, rear speakers and a subwoofer, something that would complement the Heresy II’s. I have been considering the Reference series from Klipsch. Also looking for recommendations for a new A/V receiver and have been looking at the Yamaha Aventage and Pioneer Elite lines. My total budget is $1500 - $2000. willland
MNWild, Welcome to the forum. It’s finally time to update my system, I purchased a Panasonic ST30 series Plasma Great TV. I have a pair of Heresy II’s purchased new in the late 80’s I plan to use for the front speakers. I would like recommendations for center If you can swing it(placement, cost, etc), a third Heresy II can't be beat to match your fronts. If that won't work, look for an Academy. rear speakers More Heresy II's if you have room. a subwoofer I like sealed subs and if you want to buy used, look for a Velodyne HGS series or a Paradigm Servo 15. They are flagship models from ten or so years ago. Are you located in Minnesota? Bill
cornfedksboy
I agree with the above. Pioneer Elite and Yamaha are great! I also always recommend Marantz for Klipsch speakers.
MNWild
Bill, Thanks for the advice. I really like my Heresy's which is why I plan to use them for the front speakers. Unfortunately I don't have the room for more to be used as the rear or center speaker. Chriss
MNWild
I’m been doing more research on my upgrade and have come torealize that receiver technology has changed in the last 20 years! From what I have gathered, mostly by theposts on this forum, (there’s a ton of information on here) is that Marantz isa good choice for Heresy II’s. I’mcurious as to people’s experience with the Marantz SR 6006. I was at the local big box electronics chain overthe weekend and they weren’t able to get it connected and had to have theirtech guys adjust some internal settings. That sends up a red flag, but it may be a onetime occurrence. I’ve also realized that if I want the best center speaker matchfor the Heresy II’s, I either need more room for another Heresy, or be patienttrying to locate an Academy. Would theKLF-C7 also be a good match? Which leads me to my last question, what type of rearspeakers would be a good match? Unfortunatelynot enough room for another set of Heresy II’s. Thanks again! mustang guy
Go to the alerts area of the Garage sale. I found 4 pairs of Forte II's for sale for between $500 and $600/pair. If you are in Ohio or in the DC area, have a look. Fortes play well with Heresy's. I have a 6.2 system utilizing 3 pairs of LaScalas. If you bought 2 pairs of Forte II's for the corners, and used the Heresy II's as the front and rear center, you would have a winner.

Arky
In my experience heritage & reference was not a good match. While not the heritage line, the KG series are on the small side & cheap.
MNWild
Yeah I know, I need a larger home. Thanks for the input though.

Groomlakearea51
Heritage have a particular tone/ timbre, etc., While you have indicated you have no room, if at all possible, look at the area in the "center" and consider re-arranging components, using a different "rack" or stand, etc. in order find a way to "insert" a single Heresy-II. It would be worth it.
