Joe Shmoe
I just picked up the same TV a few weeks back. I have yet to get any time with it yet, probably this weekend. You do recommend having a tech come out and tune it up.
Shodrewken
Well I got my calibration for free, but after having it done, and remembering how it looked before, I would say I would do it again even if I had to pay for it. Plus I appreciate the calibration even more when I go to a friends and watch the game or a movie on their screen. I can tell how over saturated their settings are and notice how much detail they lose because their screen hasn't been professionally calibrated. Sure my buddies screen pops out more than mine, but his tv loses ALOT of detail by just using the pre defined setting on his TV. So yes I recommend getting your tv calibrated if it is within your means.
Joe Shmoe
Did you ever get a pop up box in the lower right hand corner about using the control via option something or other? I cannot seem to get rid of it?
Shodrewken
No, I've never gotten that screen before. And pushing the exit button on the remote doesn't get rid of it? Even turning the tv of doesn't get rid of it? That's weird, I looked on the net real quick and I couldn't find anything related to that. Although it was a quick search b/c I'm on my break at work. Maybe do a more thorough search than I did and hopefully you'll be able to come up with something. Good luck.
Joe Shmoe
What it turned out to be was some sort of glitch in the Panasonic BD player. After time on the phone with tech service, I finally just unplugged it and then it went away.??
Shodrewken
Glad you figured out what it was! Have you decided if you are gonna get it calibrated?
wuzzzer
Now I'm considering getting my TV calibrated. []
willland
Now I'm considering getting my TV calibrated. Me too, somewhat of a belated Christmas present to myself. Geek Squad or private ISFcertified individual? Bill
Joe Shmoe
I do have the Video Essentials DVD, I probably could dig that out. After spending the amount of cash I did for everything I probably should also hire a tech to make sure I am getting the most out of this system. I will have to do some research on who's who here in town.
wuzzzer
I used Avia on my current and last couple TVs. Have used it on several friends/acquaintances as well. I bought my TV from Best Buy. I see they offer an ISF calibration for $249.99. Is this a typical price for such a service?
Shodrewken
From BB yeah it costs $249.99. I think it's worth it guys, like I said above every time I go to someone else's house and see their picture I notice right away the difference. If your on the fence I say jump over to the calibration side and go for it!
