seanwmil
Hi All! After years of wanting and waiting, I recently purchased a pair of 2 piece LSI La Scala's that I am restoring. They're in pretty good shape but need a fresh coat of paint, crossover re-fresh, etc.. Here's my question. I know this particular model had an option of pocket handles installed from he factory. There is a handle on the top, midrange and tweeter section, but no handles on the bottom section. Could you get them with handles on the woofer section?? If so, I need to know the measurements on where to install the handles on the bottom section. I want to keep these as close to original spec as possible so I don't wanna just slap some handles on them. Any info you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!! seanwmil
erik2A3
Seanwmil I waited for a long time for that model of La Scala too. Mine have handles on the removable top section, ONLY.
Axz Hout
No handles on LSI- -LF, they would protrude into the cabinet.
seanwmil
Okay, so no handles on the LF section. Hmmm. Moving them just got harder!! Thanks for the replies! seanwmil

djk
"Moving them just got harder!! " Why do you need handles on the LF cabinet? You bend over and stick one arm inside, towards the rear. The other arm goes underneath the back corner. I had a 105 lb wife of a band member pick them up and carry them to the truck (without being asked to do so). They weigh in at around 85 lbs (a bit heavier if they are BG with trim, and the K43E).
erik2A3
You can move them wherever you want! Our washing machine and dryer don't have handles, and we got them up the stairs and into the utility room. The old (and often missed) Klipschorns were more awkward than the La Scalas and they went upstairs too -- sans handles.
McMiRA
If your split cabinets are like mine the "handles" are built in. You just gotta grab it from the side using the mouth of the horn as one handle and the triangular recess on the back where the input is for the other handle.
minermark
Do not install handles. Most, like myself, in the history of handling these, handle these as described by McMiRA.
mdross1
As you have read they have built in handles but if you are moving them a lot either pick up a small hand cart or install casters. They are heavy and awkward no doubt.
Coytee
I just gotta say that if someone wants to put handles in their LaScala bass bins..... I've got to wonder how much (if any) it would effect the sound. Although I realize I would have had holes in the upper section, when I bought my LaScalas (1979) I wanted them to have handles as I knew how much easier it would be to move them. I was a poor teenager so I had to get them as lowest cost I could and didn't get them. I'd say if you really want to put handles on them......do it. The boxes aren't so heavy as much as they are just awkward. (I'm thinking full LaScalas and realize you have splits which.....I've never wrestled with) Just my .02 on this bright cheery spring morning.
