minermark
Never saw these before, quite a find for a serious Klipsch collector. http://seattle.craigslist.org/est/ele/4462917178.html

beeker
Washington state seems to have a huge very high end audio magnet up there for some reason. Man this pair of shorthorns would be icing on the cake for a klipsch collector...Good price as well...look good with nice labels!
opusk2k9
Nice find. The 1957 price list shows these were $290 ea. They are shorthorn, model S, K-ortho-12 drive system with natural mahogany finish. Klipsch switched from the original configuration on these sometime in 1958. The first version of the shorthorn had the Stevens tru-sonic woofers and the university mid (4401) and tweeter (SA-HF). mungkiman
Too bad these have 12" woofers, and not 15". My 1959 consecutive Shorthorn pair has 15" Stephens Tru-Sonic 103LX Woofers, University SA-HF Mid-Drivers coupled to Klipsch K-1000 horns, and EV T-35 chrome basket Tweeters. opusk2k9
It was an extra $45 ea for the 15" woofers over the 12". I have a single 1958 prima vera finish with the 15" 103LX woofer. What finish are yours?
mungkiman
Mine are Oiled Walnut, which was the original finish. They were painted blue when I found them, but they cleaned up very nicely. The grills (shot) were replaced with original Klipsch Cane, which complement the Walnut beautifully. Many people suggest the 103LX-2 Woofer is "better" than the 103LX, but I don't have a comparison. My understanding of the difference is Ohms.
opusk2k9
Mine doesn't have the Klipsch tag on the front bottom, does yours?
mungkiman
Yes. Some would suggest the tag indicates a factory build, rather than a kit, but yours might have been lost over the years.
philly0116
There was a guy in Missouri that had a pair like this that actually had PWK's signature on them. His were for sale for months.
opusk2k9
The guy in Missouri also called them Klipschorn for about a month. He started at $2200 or so, then dropped them to ~$1800. They had the newer woofer, not the Tru-sonics.

mungkiman
Not worth $1500 IMHO, let alone $1800.
