Trying to take the driver out. The driver is in there so tight that when I tried to lift up on where the screws go I snapped part of the metal frame. The mounting surface and gasket are all lifted off the cabinet. The driver just won't move. When I pull up on the outer part of the driver it only lifts up as far as the rubber will let it

Here's some pics. And no the sub was not dropped or abused in anyway. Looks like a very bad casting to me the way it cracked and broke

Holy balls! Why would klipsch not use a cast iron driver in a sub like that? Plastic seems very cheap for a big driver like that.

EDIT: I guess from the pics it looked like it. But after reading more it sounds like its not. My bad

I will be buying a different driver. The two on eBay are already getting expensive, and I'm worried the same thing might happen if I buy the whole package. I hope I can find someone who will part one out and just sell me the driver. Cheaper shipping and better for the driver. I'll try the JB weld and see how long it will last. Hopefully I can find a driver by the time it fails.

You could ask him to take the driver out and send that in its own box. That would keep it from doing that.
