only reason i dont go higher is cause it starts to sound crappy. i have got to figure that one out too!

I'm wondering if you could use an amp then? i'm guessing you are talking about the 7ii's start to sound crappy? i'm betting they are starving for more power

im thinking it is my computer. i recently formatted the drive and reinstalled windows. it started to sound worse then. used hdmi sound, but optical sounds better, music with tons of bass (ie bass i love you) when super low frequencys hit then the tweets really start distorting. thought it was internal crossovers, but blu ray movies sound good. then again, i dont have that song on blu ray. it is a flac file that is 51mb large. i cant put my finger on what the problem is, wish there was some way at looking at the output sound waves to see if it is clipping or the hk is clipping. its really got me at my whits end.

Bass I Love You can seriously damage your speakers if you are listening at reference levels, especially if they are not receiving a proper amount of clean power. Based off your signature, they are not..

But it still sounds amazing through a blu ray on ps3. Only the computer am I having any sort of issues.

Just be careful is all he's saying I think. Worse to underpower than to overpower.

ahh. i guess ill stop using that song.

as an update, i have ordered 2 of those 18 with dual 4 ohm voice coils, and a inuke 3000dsp. i saw the 6000dsp for 399, but dont think i will ever go any more than 2 subs in this room.

i already sold one rw12d, and have the 15 and the other 12 still for sale locally.

Congrats on the purchase. This is going to be one MASSIVE upgrade. Keep us posted!

yeah, thanks a lot! i cant wait for them subs to ship, they are out of stock/backordered. :(

This is going to be one MASSIVE upgrade
especially if you go the mini marty ported route

yeah, that is what i plan on. the exact dimensions are listed, i have all the tools to do it, so ill try and build one myself.

are you talking about the cube, or the long one??
not the cube. the mini marty sub. the cube is the marty cube. the mini marty is the long one, not the longest but long for sure. if you have space build the big one. the full marty is the name of that one. otherwise go with the mini marty. and i would do the vertical build as it takes up way less space and IMO looks much better

Hopefully kitty doesn't get too comfortable there, you will flick her throughout the wall when the subs are powered;)

I am just here to watch now. Looks like a fun build, especially going from those mediocre klipsch subs!

which box you gonna build?

the mini marty, if i can find out what the interier looks like?! i want them sitting up long ways, with the sub facing forward, and the vent at the bottom. but im not sure what the baffles and what not look like on the inside of the box.

why dont you just order a single box for now from avs the guy who designed it?

thats nearly 600 bucks that i could cut down to around 120. pretty sure i can get lowes to cut it up for me if i toss the guy a couple of bucks. i have built boxes before, but i was nowhere near this precise. i had read some on that thread. and several others as well. i cant seem to find exactly what i want with the placement. ill upload a photo in a bit if i see it again. i have looked at so much stuff i cant seem to remember where i saw the one that i wanted to mimic.

here is the mdf i ended up with, its on the thinner side only being 3/4, but its the thickest i found at lowes. in the third pic is the cutting jig they have set up, my saw actually has a bad cap, and its been forever since i messed with it so i just opted to have them cut it up for me. and lastly, finished product, they guy wouldn't even take cash that i was trying to give him! he spent a good hour and a half cutting it up, while i was getting other random stuff but wouldn't accept any payment! mdf ended up costing me a total of 137, i bribed my mom to come and meet me (retired military get 10 percent off).
