thebes
Two online buddies engaged in a spat over all things, little ole me. I'm so flattered. It's all cool PSG. Russ is right and wrong. His attacks aren't personal per see, just frustrated over my unrelenting pissing on cables. I'm not relying on measurements, I'm relying on logic. A connector, is in the final analysis, supposed to be a connector. An attenuator, is in the final analysis, supposed to be an attenuator. These cables peddlars will not sell you an attenuator, because then they would be selling you a cap or a resistor, which cost pennies apiece, not hundreds of bucks a foot. Oh, and yes Russ I've listened to cables. Let's see, Loews, Home Depot,, Myer Emco, Radio Shack, Best Buy selections, Kmart, Busy Bee, Monoprice, Parts Express, Monster, various homebrews, and several esoteric thingama-bobs that I would never care to know there names. And probably a dozen more. For most no discernible difference, because they were made to be connectors not attenuators. The Monoprice seemed to remove some grain from the sound, and, the silver connectors were uniformly poor connectors because they seemed to hurt the quality of the signal alhough I don't know why. I also don't know why anybody would spend extra for silver when copper is jess fine. Cables are nothing more than a marketing scam. Spend you money where it counts by sending me some, so I can continue my work in debunking this bunkum.

Thebes, nothing personal at all, we have different viewpoints that's all. I thought it was a firm but healthy discussion on both sides. I'll apologize if you though it was a personal attack. I did have one observation that I have never shared on this forum. Not sure if it's even worth discussion but having used many different cables and interconnects on a LOT of different systems (I have 5 complete systems running now) I found that the Heresys that I have did not react to cable changes as much as my other systems. I don't have the technical explanation to support my subjective findings but for some reason big changes in cables made very small differences. On other systems changes have produced dramatic results. Anyway, that's just my observation, for what it's worth. I still have my favorites and that's what I shared in this thread. Thanx. MarioRuoppolo
First of all, thank you for your precious suggestions. Second I've decided for the cheapest solution: A simple wire, one which everyone could find in every electrician store. Total amount: 14 € (a part interconnection plugs, I've used my Van Den Hull). Result: ahahahah ... ahahaha ... mmmm ... Cable Market is magic world for marketing specialists I'm happy with my new esoteric cable. Rick J B
I ordered some 12 gauge Kord wire and some banana plugs from Amazon to give this wire a shot.
minermark
I ordered some 12 gauge Kord wire and some banana plugs from Amazon to give this wire a shot. When you get that there Kord wire, take a piece and strip her down, you know a good couple inches, i challenge everyone to do this, look/feel the stranding. Now find yourself a good ole piece of monster or whatever you have been using, and simply do the same. Knuconcepts should be giving me a discount, nope, still pay .85 pr/ft and will continue to use it, I even sent a piece to Parts express a few years back after purchasing some crap they had, called and talked to tech(s), marketing, purchasing, i ask them why their wire would not suck up solder? they tested and confirmed, then returned my money.
