billybob
Last I heard the 5's they were a fair bit more efficient and had a little better bass response. That horn though is absolutely beautiful sounding. That might point to better build. Interesting. I do seem to recall a pair a time back when may have notice the diff. in the Tractrix when viewing photo, and the RF-3 I have. You are probably onto it. Different build, efficient, horn... billybob
You know, I looked at the spec's between the RF-3 and the RF-5 an did not see much diff., or more likely overlooked something. Seems there was 1db? of efficiency between the 2 and maybe a couple of pounds diff. Maybe need to look again. Or as *Moray pointed out, the Tractrix same as the RF-7. Maybe the combined w/ what better build, I wonder. Specs will tell you virtually nothing about how a speaker sounds. It's amazing (as you may well know) how speakers with similar specs can sound SO much different than each other. I think I need to find that out about the RF line as the 3's my only benchmark. The History Kid
Honestly...if it's a single digit in the model number, I don't think you can go too far wrong. I've tended to prefer even the 3's over the 82's. Plus...even though a lot of people disagree, I think a speaker looks like a speaker when it has a dust cover on the midrange or woofer, and the old style was just way more sexy. lol

They have to share similar traits, as they physically are very similar in build and electronics, yet these differences, make up the whole of, I am a similar but a different speaker. CECAA850
I think what's missed in this thread that no one's mentioned is the sub that goes with the system. It's a fantastic unit. HSU makes some nice gear.
billybob
Had heard their name mentioned before. Looked it up. Read where they could be sealed with stoppers like one in photo for diff. sound.Interesting again.
CECAA850
Read where they could be sealed with stoppers like one in photo for diff. sound.Interesting again. SVS and HSU both have what they call "variable tuning". Normally you plug a port and flip a switch that limits extension. For example you can choose from a 16, 20 or 25Hz tune. billybob
25 hz would be the ticket. Did not know about SVS. Conversations ongoing here about them. Asked for pics of drivers on Klipsch yesterday. No response yet. They should not last too long now. Location though sometimes...we shall see. Thanks!
