mattSER
I mean, I know they're not worth $1200, but what kinda offer should I make? These would be perfect for my boss. https://denver.craigslist.org/ele/4698397874.html
T2K
If they haven't been used much they probably are worth $1200, if a person like their sound. They cost around $3500 a pair new retail. Make an offer of $800. Keith
mattSER
Yeah, that's about what I was thinking. I'm just a little worried about the amps. Does klipsch provide a repair service for these?

CECAA850
When (not if) the amps start humming, you can delete them and go with an external amp.
mattSER
So is that what I'm looking for when I audition them? A humming sound?
CECAA850
Yes, the amps hum when they start to go bad.
T2K
You may get a ground loop hum when you audition them, that has nothing to do with the speaker amps. The only way you will know what the speakers are worth to you is by listening to them yourself. The amps are a non issue unless they need repair. They can be repaired for less than $150 each. Keith Who does this repair? And what is the difference between the humming? If the amp is going bad, will it have distorted sound? or just less output? I'm ready to pull the trigger on these, but I've not had good luck with powered Klipsch stuff.
CECAA850
I believe the humming is a precursor of the amp going out as well as being annoying audio wise.

T2K
There was a post here by fini with an attachment for the service manual. Maybe someone can find that post. http://edwardselectronics.net/1952.html Edwards Electronics in Phoenix AZ can repair the amp. E-mail them with questions. They recently had an ad on DaBay, I'll see if I can find that (was for repair w/exchange). http://www.ebay.com/itm/Repair-Service-Klipsch-KSP-400-Send-Us-Your-Non-Working-Amp-We-Will-Repair-It-/281398813073?pt=Speakers_Subwoofers&hash=item4184ad2191&nma=true&si=QTH320kNSd3yh5Q0FPTCYIdKRIk%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 A ground loop hum will be a low hum. When auditioning take a few 'cheater plugs' with you. They sometimes eliminate the hum. A amp hum will be louder, you can hear it from 10-20 feet away. If the amp is bad you shouldn't get sound from the 15" sub. Keith
RagingBullWinkle
Hi Keith Can you expand on cheater plugs please. What is it? I do have a loud hum from the sub on one speaker. So your saying the amp is good? Thanks
T2K
A ground loop hum will be a low hum usually. Here' a link to an isolator just as an example of where you can start your research on ground loops. http://www.parts-express.com/ground-loop-isolator--265-012 If you sub amp hum on your KSP-400's is loud enough to hear from 10-20 feet away it's probably an indication of a part failure in your KSP sub amp. Another cheap simple way to possibly eliminate ground loop hum is by trying the plug below available anywhere for less than a dollar.
