NewbieEars
I work at the local Radio Shack and am wondering if RCA speakers are any good at all. I know they don't compare to Klipsch. I am just looking to add to my current system for cheap. We have played some of the 3 way RCA floor speakers and they don't actually sound too bad. ------------------ This Rox!!! NewbieEars
So are you saying I should stay away from RCA? Maybe I'll go to my local Pro audio dealer and see what they have that isn't too spendy. ------------------ This Rox!!! NOZ
Yea, RCA is like the Hyudai of cars, don't go near it unless you just want kitchen music. Hope you don't own a Hyudai... ------------------ NOZ SYSTEM Fronts: Klipsch RF-7's Center: Klipsch RC-7 Rears: Klipsch RS-7's Projector: Infocus LP350 Screen: Draper Premier 96" x 72" TV: Toshiba 37" DVD: Toshiba SD 3107 Receiver: Harman Kardon AVR 7000 CD: Sony CDP CX250 EQ: Harmon Kardon EQ-8 Sub: Velodyne V-1012-B Spare/Back-Up: La Scalas http://www.geocities.com/seanshometheatre/
NewbieEars
hahaha no I don't own a Hyundai. What do you recommend for a good pair of 2, or maybe 3 way speakers for ~$100? ------------------ This Rox!!!
NOZ
If you get lucky at a garage sale or resale store. ------------------ NOZ SYSTEM Fronts: Klipsch RF-7's Center: Klipsch RC-7 Rears: Klipsch RS-7's Projector: Infocus LP350 Screen: Draper Premier 96" x 72" TV: Toshiba 37" DVD: Toshiba SD 3107 Receiver: Harman Kardon AVR 7000 CD: Sony CDP CX250 EQ: Harmon Kardon EQ-8 Sub: Velodyne V-1012-B Spare/Back-Up: La Scalas http://www.geocities.com/seanshometheatre/
TBrennan
I own a pair of the little RCA minis with 5" woofer and the Lineum tweeter, I use them for surround speakers and occasionally listen to them "stereo from the rear". For what they are, small direct-radiators, they are very good speakers and sound as good as minis costing much more money. And I'd kill for RCA LC-1s or "Ubangi" horns. www.chicagohornspeakerclub.org
kenratboy
I have heard some VERY GOOD things about the Rat Shack speakers with the Lineum tweeters. I would try to go used, or push your budget for some JBL's, Polks's, or Klipsch's online/eBay. Good luck and enjoy what you get! I started my system with a dual casset boombox, so don't worry, we all need to start somewhere! ------------------ Receiver: Sony STR-DE675 CD player: Sony CDP-CX300 Turntable: Technics SL-J3 with Audio-Technica TR485U Speakers: JBL HLS-610 Subwoofer: JBL 4648A-8 Sub amp: Parts Express 180 watt Center/surrounds: Teac 3-way bookshelfs Yes, it sucks, but better to come. KLIPSCH soon! My computer is better than my stereo!
Soundthought
I picked up a set of those 3 way twelves on a closeout sale. Not the worst speaker i've heard. Sound decent at lower volumes. You get a cheap *** box with some joe average drivers and an "easy peel" veneer. There currently taking up space in my closet next to the JBL N38s and 28s. Collecting dust. I plan on using them in the garage i'm attempting to build. If you simply can't afford Klipsch, Cerwin Vega puts out a few good sounding bookshelves for around $100. Try to save your money for the Klipsch SB1s. They retail at $125 a peice, but worth every penny. They have a big sound for their size. ------------------ You should of heard just what I've seen. space_cowboy
I use something like TBrennan, mine have two 7" "woofers" and the Lineum tweeter but have the Optimus brand since I've had them a while. They work great for surrounds but will eventually get RS-3 or RS-7 just because I want to free up some floor space. ------------------ Turntable - Pro-Ject 2.0 Phono Preamp - Parasound PPH-100 Receiver - H/K AVR-210 DVD - Sony DVP-S360 TV - RCA 31" Mains - KLF-20 Center - KLF-C7 Surrounds - Optimus Pro LX-10 Sub - Yamaha YST-SW160 Reinforcement - JBL 4638
drdiaboloco
Just saw a pair of SB-1's go on eBay for 98 bucks. Look around, you might see something similar again... And yes, those little boxes make quite a big sound. ------------------ -Me fail English? That's unpossible!
