May need a new driver

If it's not connected as you say, there should be no signal coming out of the amp. If it is humming, that means there is. A bad driver probably doesn't explain why there is a signal when there shouldn't be one. Fried electronics or a ground loop more likely.

Curious as to what "not connected" means though, like it's on but no RCA cables hooked up? Or your receiver just isn't on? We had this same conversation not that long ago where a sub hummed when the receiver wasn't on. He replaced an RCA cable and that fixed it, like his old one was pinched. Other people on the interwebs had grounding issues.

Not sure what "wiring it both ways" means either.
