Marantz or Yamaha Integrated SS for Klipsch forte

Recommended Posts

Would anyone happen to have experience running a Yamaha Integrated amplifier with the original Klpisch forte'? or even Marantz I have my eyes on these models Marantz PM6005, Marantz PM5005, Yamaha A-S301, and the Yamaha A-S501. Which would sound best with the forte? if at all, and would the 45 watts even be enough if i went with the Marantz? if neither of these would be a good choice it would be greatly appreciated if someone more experienced than myself could  recommend a different make. but I have a $700-$800- budget rather stay around the $500 mark, opinions and recommendations would be great! let me know what you guys think.

Which will sound "better" is a tough one to call.  Is 45w/ch enough to drive the forte's, it is as long as you are not trying to fill a large room with gobs of volume.

If your budget can be stretched to $700.00 to $800.00, consider these choices.

When I had my fortes, I drove them with a 52w/ch Marantz 2252B 70's receiver, 105w/ch Denon PMA-1080R 80's integrated amp, Denon PMA-700V 80's integrated amp, 70w/ch Luxman R-115 late 80's receiver, and many other various forms of amplification.  All sounded wonderful with the fortes.

Alright thanks! and what i should have said instead of "sounds better"  is that from what i have found online some people say Yamaha and Klipsch are to bright. Thanks for your input though it was greatly appreciated! Im going to go and look locally to see if i can get those models recommended and hopefully a bit less with some bartering.

I have heard those things also but not in quite some time.  To some, anything that is not tube-like warm is considered bright.  I for one prefer things to be as neutral as I can get them and my Yamaha A-S1000 integrated/Klipsch RB-75's combo are just that.

Here are a couple of nice used integrated amps that might interest you.

Pay no mind to the "too bright" comments. I am using a 10 year old Yamaha AV intigrated with my Fort'e 1 speakers and I dare you to find it to be "too bright" and I am running the amp in bypass mode, meaning all tone controls are bypassed. Either maker should be fine. Of course, higher quality amplification won't hurt a thing either.

I have a contrarian idea. How about a low damping factor, discrete transistor classic for driving your Fortes? In Marantz, how about a nice Model 18 receiver or a good old 30-50 watt 1970's Marantz or Yamaha classic. They will sound nice with Fortes.
