Archetype
Hey all. I'm planning to uprage my center speaker to achieve a better front sound stage. I'm currently using RF-82's and RC-52II and that doesn't sound good. Center channel sounds somehow muffled. I was thinking of getting RC-62II to go with my towers but they don't sell it anymore, and I canno't find any used ones either so I started thinking about RP-450c. Any opinions or suggestions? The History Kid
There's several new available on eBay still: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR2.TRC1.A0.H0.XKlipsch+RC-62+II.TRS0&_nkw=Klipsch+RC-62+II&_sacat=0 You might look at the RC-35 as well.
Archetype
I forgot to mention that I live in Finland, and most US sellers won't ship to me. Even if they do, that would cost alot + import tax which is about 25% I think
The History Kid
If you have to go new, the 450C is probably your best bet, some have compared it to the 64. I'd still see if you can locate a 35 in your area first before moving on if money is a concern.
Archetype
I'll keep on searching for RC-62 and RC-35 then. I'm probably gonna get either of those or RP-450c if I cannot find em. Money isn't the problem here, but I hate to pay like 200€ extra for shipping and taxes. Thanks for your replies. I would still like to know if anyone has used rc-450c with RF82's? The History Kid
No problem. I can't help you with the timbre matching of the 450C and the 82's, but I can say that both of them on their own sound fantastic. I think Met might have used them together before...the 82's or the 7's, can't recall which.
robbiey60
Is an rc64ii an option in your country? I used to run mine between my rf82iis and it was great.
Scrappydue
The 450c is really laid back in comparison to the rf-82.
Archetype
Not easy to find rc-64 here either, at least not for a decent price. I'm really starting to think that rp-450c is not gonna be my next center channel, and I might have to pay for those extra fees and order the rc-62 from ebay US. So, RC-35 would also be a good choise, right? How about RC-3 or RC-7? Thanks all for replying.
The History Kid
I personally like the 3 but many others do not. The 7 would be a beast.
BluBitRates
Buy the RC-62 or a series one rc-64 unless you ever plan to upgrade your rf-82s
Archetype
I think I found a seller that would ship to me. He has both, rc62 and rc62II. I'm thinking of buying mk1 since my rf82's are mk1 too. Would that be a good choise or is mk2 somehow better?
robbiey60
They would be so close I doubt you could tell. Series 1 would be the perfect match.
Archetype
Well that shop had sold em out already but I found another which had one rc-62ii for 350€ (new in box). The only thing is that I gotta make it black ash because it's cherry and my other speakers are black.. Anyone done that before?
The History Kid
I've had cherry speakers mixed with my black ash. Trust me, you don't need to restain. Once you get it and see the cherry yourself, you won't want to either.
BluBitRates
I am pretty picky, i would not want to mix them. Keep looking for a black one. Mk1 if possible
