Gunthur
Hey folks, I was hoping not to post a problem but it happens. I just purchased the DD 5.1 with the klipsch 5.1 speakers recently. Unfortunately, when i hook up the decoder(turned off) as the input the speakers humm without any inputs(cox, optical, etc). The humming decreases when i turn on the decoder but not completely. I have the volume set to 59 and the rest(center, sub, rear) to 0. Am i expecting too much from these speakers not to hum at this range or is there a fix? Would better speaker cable help? justin_tx_16
Cables would not help. I get this with my dvd player connected to teh 5.1's. how I fixed it? It is a combination problem. 1. I have a ground loop, so I got a ground cheater, turns a three prong plug into a two prong 2. I have dirty power, I got an EMI/RFI filtering surge protector from radio shack, $14.99 Total cost was like $16 and I get no humm till about 70 on the control pod. ------------------ -justin SoundWise promediatech@Klipsch.com /1-888-554-5665 - RA# 800-554-7724 ext 5s> Email Me
Gunthur
Thanks Justin! I did what you said and wow no noise now. Even the nasty hum from changing inputs went away. Now to upgrade those cables
justin_tx_16
Great! Now go make new cables! I am about to start a new mod on how to make your own cables for the DD-51, audiophile quality cables for the cheap. Should be interesting ------------------ -justin SoundWise promediatech@Klipsch.com /1-888-554-5665 - RA# 800-554-7724 ext 5s> Email Me

Martin6Fan
So, defeat the grounding on the DD5.1 is what you're saying?

KiNNi C P
won't that be dangerous to the speaker system??? also, would just buying a EMI/RFI filter surge protector do the trick???
LTech221
If theres a ground problem, it wouldn't help.
