kenratboy
OK, here is the deal. we are getting a new 32" or 36" TV. Some of the 36" TV's would just barely fit. We only have 33.5" width, but unlimited height and debth. This means the speakers MUST be below the tube, not on the sides. Budget is $800 max. Needs (quite obviously) component video and snazzy picture quality. Flat screen is prefered, as there is STRONG glare in the room. No brand preference. Local stores (if you see if they have the TV you recommend) include Best Buy, Circuit City, Good Guys, Costco, Sears. All the big stuff. Purchase may be in the next month or two. I am excited, we are going from a 27" to 32" TV. Not quite a 65" RP, but a BIG imprivement. I would appreciate any help!!! kenratboy
It WILL be a 4:3. So, any suggestions? In general, Sony, Panisonic, Toshiba, JVC? ------------------ Receiver: Sony STR-DE675 CD player: Sony CDP-CX300 Turntable: Technics SL-J3 with Audio-Technica TR485U Speakers: JBL HLS-610 Subwoofer: JBL 4648A-8 Sub amp: Parts Express 180 watt Center/surrounds: Teac 3-way bookshelfs Yes, it sucks, but better to come. justin_tx_16
Hitachi and Sony and Zenith are pretty nice now-a-days. do you have a Home Theater Store near you? They have th ebest selection. Check out some LOEWS tv's, those are nice! we have a 36" toshiba TV and it has an amazing picture. it was struck by lightning and when we went to get it officially evaluated, the guy doing it said he would buy it from us cause the tube was one of the best made, better than what was out for non digital tv's now-a-days, but we got it fixed instead. picture is really crisp, check that out. ------------------ -justin SoundWise promediatech@Klipsch.com /1-888-554-5665 - RA# 800-554-7724 ext 5s> Email Me
kenratboy
The $$$ is the hardest part. Best Buy and Circuit City are the two best places in Reno (for TV's in the low $$$ range.) I prefer Circuit City. WTF is a "Home Theater Store" Never heard of one. Anyway, The Toshiba we have is nice, very, very nice. No matter what, the new TV is going to need to be as good or better. I would love a 36", but I think it would be a cheapie to fit the budget. I need to go out this week and look at all the TV's I can. Best Buy: You cannot stand more than 4 feet away from their TV's, the isles are too nerrow. What retards... ------------------ Receiver: Sony STR-DE675 CD player: Sony CDP-CX300 Turntable: Technics SL-J3 with Audio-Technica TR485U Speakers: JBL HLS-610 Subwoofer: JBL 4648A-8 Sub amp: Parts Express 180 watt Center/surrounds: Teac 3-way bookshelfs Yes, it sucks, but better to come. justin_tx_16
my uncle used to work for circuit city and after that will never step foot into one. i bought a computer and was screwed over $3200, not going to buy anything from them again if i don't have to. if you want the story... buy my upcoming novel... 101 Ways to Skin a Circuit City Salesman. Toshiba's are so underrated. They really do have amazing picture quality. I would put my what... 10 year old 36 inch Toshiba against a LOEWS 4:3 any day. ------------------ -justin SoundWise promediatech@Klipsch.com /1-888-554-5665 - RA# 800-554-7724 ext 5s> Email Me
kenratboy
Well, I marched into my Circuit City, threw a used $600 dig cam on the counter and had the $$$ back off my credit card in 10 minuites. I got my JBL's for 1/2 price because they didn't explain that there price policy didn't include the internet ($300 speakers for $180.) I have never EVER had questions asked with items returned. They are ALWAYS nice. They have good prices. They DO NOT play games with me. We have spent a whole helova lot of $$$ at Circuit City's in No. Cal. and here in Reno. NOT ONCE have we been disapointed. Maybe all the Circuit City's in Taxas suck? As a counter point. Most of the "East Coast" stores over here suck big time. Shop-Ko is absolite $hit. Lowes is an insult to Eagle. ------------------ Receiver: Sony STR-DE675 CD player: Sony CDP-CX300 Turntable: Technics SL-J3 with Audio-Technica TR485U Speakers: JBL HLS-610 Subwoofer: JBL 4648A-8 Sub amp: Parts Express 180 watt Center/surrounds: Teac 3-way bookshelfs Yes, it sucks, but better to come. J M O N
I just got a 36" JVC for $579 at Circuit City. The price included a $50 gift card, which they took off the price since their cards were not working. Pretty nice TV, can't beat it for the money.
