37scoop
This was asked a few years back on this site without a solid answer so I'm bringing it back to life. I'm assembling a Heritage HT front set-up and have heard the KV-4 can work as a pretty good matching center between two Forte's or Chorus. Does anyone have any experience with this set-up? I have an Academy but am always looking to expand. Thanks for any help.
derrickdj1
I've seen that center between to Heresy speakers and it worked well. The sound from the Forte or Chorus is not that different so, it should work. I have never heard an Academy.
Frzninvt
Nope, it is timbre' matched to the Epic line CF-1, 2, 3 & 4 it will stick out like a sore thumb. You would be going backwards. If the Academy is not enough seek anout another Forte' single or a Heresy II or replace the cheap components on the Academy network to get more detail out of it. I replaced the cheapo network in the one that I had with Popbumper's K-Stack with premium components and it made a world of difference. Remember your center speaker is the most imporant one in your HT and the speaker that all the others are anchored to.
37scoop
Thanks for the info. Appreciate it. My initial search showed the KV-4 was made for the and CF line as was pointed out here but there were a handful of posts suggesting they also fit with the Heritage. Seemed dubious. teaman
I own all three....the KV-4, the Academy and the KLF-C7. Even though they are all different they all work well with Heritage series speakers.
jjptkd
I used a KV-4 between my Chorus II's for almost 2 years and really enjoyed it, thought it matched better than the Academy or the KLF-C7 but I only use a center for TV / movies never for music if that matters. The RC-7 is even a bigger step up from the KV-4 and is what I have been using more recently, good luck!
Frzninvt
Right to left pans across the front stage would make it obvious that it is a mismatch a reference speaker would be even worse. Why would you recommend the incorrect center channel to someone? Use the correct one you will thank yourself later.
