cgolf70
I just installed a set of Crites tweeter diapraghms in my Quartets. I have a few comments and questions. It may be that I'm just not used to the new sound so I need to take that into consideration. The new tweeters seem to have toned down the sound. It's not as crisp as before. Does changing the diapraghms and not changing the crossovers mess with the SQ? There was a green wire and a black wire. I figured the green to be the positive and hooked it to the positive terminals. Do I need to change the crossovers since I changed out the tweeters?
pzannucci
You should not need to change the crossover for the tweeter diaphragms. They should be a close enough match to the specs of the originals. It would be nice to measure the difference but barring that, which diaphragms were in them originally? Black poly? They will definitely sound different if so. cgolf70
Yes the originals were the black polys. The Quartets are great speakers!!
unclefred
Mine with the Ti upgrade sound great. It may be a break-in issue, or just your sound preference. If you haven't, get them off the ground a bit.
dtr20
The breakin time on a titanium tweeter is about 1 second according to Bob Crites.
cgolf70
I think the break-in issue is much more with the ears than the equipment!!
GTB
Put Bob's Ti diaphragms in my Quartets and was, and still am impressed. Quartets are GREAT speakers, these made them a teensy bit better.
