m00n
I take it you work in a audio/video store of some sorts? Anyway, I personally love my H/K-520. I don't have anything to compare it to, but it friggen rocks the my theater. When I make a receiver upgrade it will be Harman Kardon do doubt about it. Well, that is of course there are features I want in the future that non of their products supports, however, I would be willing to wait if I knew they had something on the horizon. Orange Peel
I have owned the AVR 125 and now the AVR 520, and I loved both of them. The looks are #1 hands down, love it! The features rock, powers nice and clean, and what can I say, it Harman Kardon!!! sargeglez
Hey Moon, I just bought a Harman Kardon amplifier like yours, but I don't know how to connect it to my AV Receiver. Could you help me please? Thank you,
m00n
If I was to try and help, it would be like the blind leading the blind as I have not actually gotten it yet. I ordered it yesterday and it's on it's way. I should get it Friday. I downloaded the manual from Harmans web site and have read parts of the manual on it though. What exactly are you going to be using it for? ------------------ m00nsCinema to be m00ns current toys FRONTS: RF-7 CENTER: RC-7 SURROUNDS: RS-7 REAR: RC-7 SUB: RSW-12 / RSW-15 (feel the sonic waves) RECEIVER: Harman Kardon AVR 520 AMPLIFIER: Harman kardon PA4000 DVD: Harman Kardon DVD-50(DD, DTS) VIDEO: InFocus ScreenPlay DLP Projector COMPUTER: ProMedia 4.1 c>Microsoft XBOX with Monster cable for that 5.1 Dolby Digitial surroundc> f> This message has been edited by m00n on 09-24-2002 at 06:11 PM
prodj101
I don't have either, but on a hunch, I'mi guessing there is a pre-amp output on the back of the receiver that will say preamp out, or "Pre-Out" or something along those lines. You plug in those jacks to the corrosponding inputs on the back of the amp. ------------------ New music system: 2.1 using SF-2's (soon to be RF-7's), and an RSW-15. for amplification Mcintosh MC02105, B&K PT-3 preamp, Sony SACD player. pioneer turntable. boa12
that's right, as p says for whatever channels you're using the amp for - & connect the speakers for those channels to the amp (not the receiver). ------------------ My Home Systems Page
m00n
Also note that this amp can only have 2 inputs. So, you can have as I plan on doing.... A) Run two extra side surrounds Run two rear surrounds. I mean it's what ever you want really, but only 2 left and right pairs can be input into the back of the amp. I would HATE to missguide you so you may want to double check the manual and call tech support if you thing you about to bugger things up. ------------------ m00nsCinema to be m00ns current toys FRONTS: RF-7 CENTER: RC-7 SURROUNDS: RS-7 REAR: RC-7 SUB: RSW-12 / RSW-15 (feel the sonic waves) RECEIVER: Harman Kardon AVR 520 AMPLIFIER: Harman kardon PA4000 DVD: Harman Kardon DVD-50(DD, DTS) VIDEO: InFocus ScreenPlay DLP Projector COMPUTER: ProMedia 4.1 c>Microsoft XBOX with Monster cable for that 5.1 Dolby Digitial surroundc> f>
space_cowboy
I've had my AVR-210 for about a year and have been absolutely satisfied with it. I really like the looks of H/K's receivers, and for me, the performance is super. A buddy got his AVR-520 just last Saturday and it's very nice. ------------------ Turntable - Pro-Ject 2.0 Phono Preamp - Parasound PPH-100 PreAmp - ASL AQ2004DT Amp - ASL Wave 8 mono blocks Receiver - H/K AVR-210 DVD - Sony DVP-S360 Mains - KLF-20 Center - KLF-C7 Surrounds - Optimus Pro LX-10 Sub - Yamaha YST-SW160 Reinforcement - JBL 4638
MagnumMan
I have been a HK lover for several years now. I have had my AVR-80 for quite some time now,and it still works great! Just recently,I have hooked up new ones for friends. They have been the 120,220, and 125 models. I think they are awesome! They live up to their reputation. The disadvantage of their lower models are the absence of pre-outs. So there is no way of hooking up external amps. My friend that has the 220 wanted to hook up his pair of OHM's,but couldn't. The only thin I don't like about their new recievers are the silver buttons. They stand out too much. Their older models everything was solid black. But other than that, they are sticking with the plain & simple look which I like. ------------------ Jerry CP RULZ ------------ Mains: KLF 30 Rears: KG 5.5 Center: KLF-C7 Subs: (2) Antique wooden coffins with (3) 12" Advents in each Receiver: HK AVR-80 DD Processor: HK ADP-303 DTS Processor: Rotel RDA 985 AudioControl Phase Coupled Activator Series Three TV: Toshiba 42H81 42" Theaterwide DVD: Toshiba 4109X Laserdisc: Yamaha CDV-W901 5 CH Amp(for Speakers): Rotel RMB-1095 5 CH Amp(for subs): Rotel RB-985 Single Cass Deck: HK TD-420 Dual Cass Deck: HK DC-

Someday ill upgrade and unless im going seperates which im sure i wont be anytime soon it will hands down be another HK Reciever. It has super clean power, looks awesome, easy setup, and one of the best amps for a reciever. I use to have a 2002 model Sony reciever STR-DE975 and this blew it away noticably and made my Klipschs come to life. ------------------ Thanks, Daryl Gregg MY Home Theatre Page HK AVR-510 Reciever Sony DVP-NS400D DVD SB-3 Mains SC-1 Center Quintet Rears KSW-12 Sub AR Proseries Interconects R.I.P.
