Mallette
Recently I touted the refurb Dell 410 as the ultimate bargain to build an audio server. Check out http://www.shuttleonline.com/spec.php3?model=ss40 Only about 8WX10LX7H, graphics, LAN, audio (turn it off or use for system sounds...though it DOEs do 5.1), USB and Firewire ON THE FRONT, TV out. Word has it that it is VERY quiet with a temp controlled fan. Now THIS is a box that won't spoil the view of your audio system! Street price today: 303.00. Athlon XP 1.3ghz: 50.00 Card Deluxe: 379.00 HDD: 90-150.00 depending on size. Downside: If you want to go removable, you'll have to get a USB CD drive or connect to a network to rip, as there as only one 5.25 bay. However, these aren't too pricey. So, 800.00 to 1000.00 for a small, quiet, 24/96 capable, 5.1 capable, random access, etc. etc. device that is smaller than most audio components. And for me...for 38.00 you can get a custom carry bag for it. This looks REALLY good!!! Dave ------------------ David A. Mallett Come taste muh' Klipsch! BryanJ
Motorola has a wireless system that will access the audio traks of your choosing on a computer(using thier software) and transmit them to the main home amp. Saw it on an episode of "Fresh Gear" on Tech TV. Runs about 400.00. Bryan

Mallette
So's mine...but there is always hope for another gig. This one bought the CDeluxe and got my mic's fixed (311.00 for repair and calibrate OUCH...don't be dropping mics unless you are wealthy). PAW lets me through all my gig money at audio. I'm getting one of these just as soon as Providence provides. It'll happen. Dave ------------------ David A. Mallett Come taste muh' Klipsch!
