Portland Dude
I just picked up a pair of La Scala’s. I’m curious about the crossover. It’s an AA, but has different wiring than what I’m seeing online. Notably, I’m seeing an additional resistor on the tweeter circuit. What’s that about? To tone down the tweeters? Any ideas appreciated! hanksjim1
What tweeters are in there?
Frzninvt
I would remove it. It appears someone tried to lower the output of the tweeter by adding a resistor. The zener diodes also look like they were replaced they are too shiny to be originals.
Portland Dude
That was my suspicion. I removed them, and gained full tweeter functionality. I wonder if the last owner knew about the mod? The rear of the speakers was covered by a Masonite panel, with a fuse, and second input jack. I’m sure he bought them that way.
CECAA850
They should have put it on the squawker. Normally that's why they sound hot.
