yamahaSHO
Here are some Heresy speakers I am refinishing. I can't remember the pretreatment I used, but I found it on this forum. Seemed to work really well (3 treatments). I set some screws in the front in place of the velcro and am hiding them with doing the front baffle in Duratex. With magnets glued the grill, it should be pretty clean.
MookieStl
Just a portion of my Velcro inventory. That's why I went that direction.
iaRIVR
As I note I did not use a pre-stain conditioner on a pair of baltic birch speakers and it came out too blotchy. I had it, and used it in testing, but my sample looked great without so I decided to skip. Unfortunately the sides came out fine, but the front looks awful. Would highly recommend a pre-stain, I don't think it can hurt and would have saved me having to refinish them.

The gel stain, like I used, is supposed to help with the blotchy effects. Mine aren't blotchy that I can see.
