Lone Palm
I got a Denon 1603 for Christmas. It has no phono inputs. I still play a lot of LPs. I'm using my old Kenwood receiver for the phono pre-amp. I am going from the tape-out of the Kenwood to the aux on the Denon. On the Kenwood there are no speakers hooked up and I have the speaker switch off. The volume is set to minimum. Will this hurt either one of the receivers? Invidiosulus
I wouldn't think it would hurt either one. I've seen this done a number of times. You will of course propably lose a little sound quality running it through another piece of gear not intended to be a stand alone preamp but you shoudn't hurt anything as long as you keep the speaker switch on the Kenwood turned off. I would just make sure not to let anyone who doesn't understand the setup near the kenwood. Peace, Josh
proudestmonkey
you can get a phono preamp (about $30) and it works great, plus there will be a lot less confusion behind your grear, i bet that is a mess!! joe
JohnA
I think I'd spend more than $30. There are several outboard phono preamps out there. I use an Aragon, but Creek and others make some nice ones. Try to look in the $100 range.
