mnelms
Just curious, does anyone know how low Bose acoustamas (woofer unit) goes? I have the lifestyle 35 set up in my master bedroom, and am just anticipating the shock i'm gonna get when my svs pc plus comes in for my downstairs setup. Underhanded Penguin
Just a guess here: 40-45hz at the most. Any lower and I would be surprised. About as low as RF-3's but way way WAY boomier. -UP
dougdrake
You will be shocked. I think I read someone had measured the bass module actually getting down into the mid 30's, but was many decibels down. My SVS will go below 20hz -- I've heard it at 16hz, and it probably goes lower but I can't hear it. DD
michael hurd
I honestly don't know how low an acoustimass module will play. My rf3II's will play down to an honest 30 hz with my bass mekanik cd. Any lower and the woofers start to unload and operate out of control.
michael hurd
Just found this, I didn't bookmark the site. One of the most popular Bose product lines is the AM series of satellite/woofers. About this product line, John Busenitz says: "The problems with the Bose AM systems are many. The woofers are too small to reproduce low frequencies at decent levels. In fact, a review in a recent Stereo Review noted this, saying that the response rolled off at around 36 dB below mid-50 Hz. The small enclosure and high order response are indicative of bad transient response/excessive group delay, which is evidenced by a simple listening test. There is a big upper bass peak, and the bass is boomy and muddy, IMHO. Also the LP filter is too high, and thus the bass module is directional." "The crossover must be high, since the 2.5" drivers in the cubes are much too small to reproduce upper bass to almost any degree of satisfaction, while they are too large for high frequencies, where they "beam" and become directional. And, incidentally, don't have close to a 20 kHz bandwidth."
prodj101
I once built a subwoofer out of a peanut butter can that had more flat response than a bose sub.
TheEAR
I will be more direct and in your face, like Klipsch. Any so called B0$e sub is a POS.And any half serious sub will DEMOLISH the performance of an Acoustic Mess module. I pit my smallest(read tiny 9" cube)Sunfire and I can tell you I am 100% sure(read I know this as a fact)puts the acoustic Mess To shame. The smallest Sunfire and Velodyne SPL800 do a solid 30Hz. LOL
