Who has a SVS PC-Plus? Tell me about it please.

Hello,

If you have the above subwoofer (any of the three sizes), could you tell me your overall impression of it? How big is your room and how much noise does it make? Just in general, how do you like it?

I like my bigass JBL subwoofer, but I am thinking with my newly-constructed HT, I will be disapointed with the level of low bass. To keep the woofers from killing themselves, I have a 30 Hz. bass filter on the sub. So, I have a 30 Hz. sub with high output. Very hi-quality, but no <30 Hz. bass responce.

My room is 13' X13'6 X 9' and is compleatly sealed when listening to stuff. The subwoofer would be in a corner. What do you think I could expect in this situation like this?

Thanks! Just planning right now.

Bruins,

You started out with same mains as me.

I have

RF-3ii

RC-3ii

RB-3

KSW-15

And now you upgraded the hell out of your system and in the process left me in the dust. I want to kill you!!! j/k

I'm jealous... Got any leftovers you wanna sell me? Debating between the

RSW-12, PC+ 2039, or PB1-ISD. Have to wait until May to get anything though. Gotta pay taxes! (The bad thing about having your own business)

Take care,

UP

Hey UP

How have you been?

The 7s are awesome but the 3s are impressive too.

If you want the SVS and want to avoid the taxes it just might be time for my brother and I to visit the Hockey Hall of Fame.

the PC+ 2039 is really awesome. I recall reading all this and that about the SVS blah blah blah blah blah and said to myself I wonder what they are all talking about. i found out and I too am impressed.

Tom and Ron have been a great help in ensuring I purchased the product that fit my needs and HT.

I am serious about the hockey hall of fame.

The 2039pc+ is an awesome HT sub. I can also say for what music I have listened to it was quite smooth as well, not boomy at all.

But let's get back to HT only. Man oh man what a sub. I paid 787.00 (B-stock) shipped to my door. The base is great. Solid, defined, clean not boomy or rattling at all. My kids were watching Star Wars II an it was shaking the door jams upstairs! Of course dad had to tell them to turn it down a notch.

The gain is unreal. I have my Yamaha RX-V2200 LFE output cut to -12db and the gain on the sub at 12 o'clock (sub is in a corner) and it still rocks! The best value on the market IMHO.

You may want to search for a B-stock 2531pc+. A little less bottom end but more SPL in the mid bass area. It's also a bit smaller if size is a consideration and will save about $50 I think. Ron and Tom are top shelf and very accessible via email. Eric at their 800# is also very knowledgable.

Regards,

Mike

Bruins!

Thanks fer your offer man. I just might take you up on that! When the time comes email me to let me know when you're coming to Toronto. Regardless of whether I get the sub, I'll take ya out for a drink. My office is literally 1 minute away from the hockey hall of fame. I eat lunch in that food court quite often. It would be fun to meet a fellow klipscher. Keep in touch. How bout those Leafs on the road!!??

The leafs are tough but the question still remains will they have enough to make the playoffs. the race is tight. The bruins uhmmmm not really sure with their game play of late.

Talked to the Mrs last night hinting we should go to the Falls and while we are up there catch a ball game and visit the Hall. I think she might be interested in the trip.

Is there a casino on the Canadian side?

I will let you know.

I have the 20-39 PC+, and I absolutely love it. It blends very well with the RF-5's. Although there is very little music with information below 30Hz, alot of movies have bass below 20Hz, and that is where the SVS really shines. Not to say that the SVS isn't good for music, but for movies, it really is the best bang for your buck 9.gif ! I have one port plug inserted, and the subsonic filter set to 16Hz, and there is still plenty of headroom left. I think that the volume is set at about 1/3, and my LFE level is -6. My room (15' x 13' x 9') is only a few feet bigger than yours, so I don't think that there will be any concern of the SVS not filling your room. Oh, by the way, do you come to Vegas very often? I live there, and would be glad to let you come by and listen to my setup. Just let me know(PM me or e-mail me).

I went for the SVS 2039 PC Plus 16.gif and am more than happy. I would recommend it highly. It is a great match for the RF3II's and works great with movies and music. I listen to a lot of classic rock (50's thru 80's). Most of the songs don't have the really deep bass but the ones that do really sound great.

For movies, it is amazing. I added it to a pair of RF3's before my center and rear's arrived. I was watching a movie that I had seen before and was impressed with how much the sub added to the sound. I never new that there were those low sounds.

The room I have my system in is a family/dinning/kitchen area. It is kind of an "L" shape with one leg, Family room/Dinning room, at about 16 x 30 feet. The kitchen is the other part of the "L" and it is about 14 x 14 feet. All with 8 foot ceilings. I run the sub volume at about 1/2 and it is more than enough for the room.

Also, the sub is not in a corner. I don't know how much difference that would make. The way the room is setup is with the RPTV in the corner.

Hope this helps and good luck with what ever you decide.

Thanks forthe offer. No, I don't go to Vegas often. I am too poor and busy with school and work. After College, I will be able to go to some Klipsch gatherings and all that stuff.

I would LOVE to find someone who has my subwoofer and also have expreience with the SVS to give a comparison. Above 30 Hz., I have UNLIMITED output, but NOTHING below 30 Hz. Jeez. I need to think about selling my sub and upgrading in a few years.

The only problem is that one of my woofers was reconed under warranty (defective from the factory) and the epoxy they used had air bubbles in it - so it looks kinda, well, poorly done, eventhough it is 100% perfect.

Anyone want my unabused subwoofer?

I have had a JBL 4638 for about a year now. In December I got the SVS-2039PC+. Before I got the SVS I was planning on getting rid of the JBL, but when I heard them together I decided to keep both. The JBL has plenty of punch, but of course can't match the SVS on the lowest frequencies. As stated before the SVS is awesome for movies, giving low frequency, wall shaking SPL with no problem. The SVS does good on music, but much better with movies. I think that is more of a factor of the frequencies of the music.

The JBL can put out some awesome punch on music. Playing "Creeds" What If, the JBL 4638 rocks my whole house.

The rest of my speakers ares Klipsch KLF-30's, KLFC-7 and JBL rears.

Is that your JBL 4648A you're thinking about selling? If so, I'm still mucho interested in buying...

Where do you live? (City, State) - Shipping would be $150+ and it would be freaking hard to pack and ship. If you could drive to Reno, NV, that would make it easier. Remember, this thing weights 150 pounds and would need $1,200 in insurance, that could very likely be needed. It would need to be shipped on a pallet and I think a larger commercial company would have to do it.

I don't have the money to upgrade right now, but later, I will. Need to buy a damn car. 9.gif

If you live within driving distance of Reno, that would make the deal way better for you.

Let me know!

kenratboy,

Have you tried working the bottom end of the 4638s with something like the Beringer Feedback Destroyer? I've heard you can get to about 25Hz with this. I purchased the Beringer, but have not had the time to work with my *DUAL* 4638s. The SVS subs may get lower, but I certainly cannot complain about the music and movie low end I'm getting now (yes, my neighbors have noticed).

I remember the schweet deal we got on the 4638s: $216.00 DELIVERED! Totally insane and worth every penny. Weighing in at 146 lbs, these beasts are gonna be really difficult/impossible to ship economically. Mine have become fixtures in my small home. Your best bet is to sell it locally for a real cheap price. Good luck.
