Flexi-rack

Finished the flexi-rack yesterday. Ordered all the hardware from www.mcmaster.com in Atlanta. Bought the 36" threaded rod, nuts, flatwashers, rubber cushioning washers, acorn nuts, coupling nuts, and hooded twin wheel casters for a total of $55. Shipping was $12. Bought 3/4"x16"x48" MDF at HD for ~$12. Had the HD guy cut the MDF into 6- 22" wide shelves.

The wife and I spent about 30 minutes of "quality time" assembling the rack. She seemed to enjoy handling my rods and nuts. After adjusting and leveling the 5 shelves, I loaded up the Scott amps, tuner, cheap CD player, and spare TT. The rack is quite serviceable, and sturdy.

As deang mentioned earlier, I plan to use the vinyl from Parts Express and paint the hardware. Although I will probably disassemble the rack and cut the threaded rod for use with 4 shelves only, the 5 shelver is a nice alternative to a storebought rack.

The coupling nuts would also allow use of inexpensive spikes if those are desireable.

When finished I believe the rack will actually look nice too!
