Does anyone have any good results with powered indoor antennas with metal roof, i was told a metal roof would cause problems. Or what is a good outdoor antenna , fm stations are about 60 miles away. Wanted to stay away from outdoor antenna because of lightning . thanks for advise. 1.gif

The Terks are good as stated above.

I have mixed feelings about 'powered' indoor antenna. A powered antenna can make a poor signal sound worse. Especially if you're in an area with a lot of metal structures around. Personally, I haven't used mine in 20+ years.

I went to a stacked array of Winegard UHF/VHF/FM antenna. If you're worried about lightning, you should have surge protection (Minnesota Male on this forum recommends SurgeX, & after looking into it, I agree) on the AC as well as the antenna cable. I also have my antenna grounded (on stand-offs from the roof & siding) at two locations, with doubled solid core 10 GA. aluminum wire. Everything goes thru 3 stages of power conditioning/surge protection before it gets to any components. The antenna cable is also grounded separately.

In short, no substitute for a good outside antenna. & lightning shouldn't really be a problem as long as you have things grounded & surge protected properly.
